It's a Henderson Chimp (makes about as much sense as "Chump") and it's commonly fitted on British sea kayaks. I _think_ that Whale and Henderson are either the same company or connected. electric, hatch on M17

I am going to add a small solar panel on top of the hatch cover - is there an electric wizard in the group, I was told today that to protect the battery from boiling dry, I should solder in place a 14.4 volt zenner diode between the solar panel and the battery to prevent overcharging when at the dock or on trailer for a few weeks. Apart from the back-feed diode which is also needed when no charge controller is used. Thanks, MC

Hi Folks: I searched the archives for this... figured it's been covered before, but couldn't find anything. I want to buy a bimini for my M17, but I don't know what size will work. Goofing around with a tape measure, I'm guessing that I need a 2-bow bimini that's about 72 inches wide, maybe 48" long, and, let's see, maybe 42" high? (I can't put the mast up right now, she's under some power lines.) If anyone has an M17 with a good-fitting bimini, could you tell me the measurements? Hi Howard, Absolutely right! ..........and at 15 degrees angle of heel you don't spill the beer. Upright and fast is far superior to lee rail under and groaning to make it move............ More heel angle does not = more speed. Connie

Everyone, I am trying to find the best way to mount a transom ladder on my M-15. It will go on the the starboard side of course but how do get to the inside to create proper support with plate aluminum or high quality plywood that is covered with epoxy and glasscloth? Is this a factory install only?
