Regarding the hole size in the center board

I did not change the opening to the hole. The cracks and voids were on the inside. I ended up using Bondo rather than 5 minute epoxy. I knew that I would have to file with a rasp to the correct internal size. Epoxy would have been like working in concrete. Norm M15 #172

Hello, I just wanted to let you know that I bought my M15 new without ever having seen one or sailed one. I did sail a West Wright Potter 15 and decided it wasn't the boat for me. The M15 handles like a much larger boat. I've owned it now going on 14 years and love her as much as when I first got her. She will give you so many wonderful memories! When I can no longer get out of bed my M15 is going to my oldest daughter and grandchildren, whom I'm teaching how to sail. My two cents worth. epoxy vs polyester strength

Question: in the 1970 and 80 a hull was made with polyester resins because epoxy was too expensive. Polyester resins ages and deteriorates with wear and tear quite quickly. like stress lines will show and UV damage. But how much of the strength is lost, example: suppose a hull is built in 1984 (twenty years old) and has been left out side in varying degrees of temperature change, compare to a hull that has been inside a garage out of weather and away from extreme temperature change. What is the range of structure weakness that can be expected. Has the fiberglass hull now only 50% of its original strength, or what??? Boat Cushions

Practical Sailor just did a full blown article on interior cushions, and sometime last year Good Old Boat did an article on fabrics to cover them with. PS gave names of companies that specialize in cushions alone. The best was in Michigan as I recall. They use a special high density open cell foam. When I replaced mine, I took them to a local auto upholstery shop, picked out a high density foam the same thickness as my originals, then they took the old original foam, cut the new cushions using the old as a pattern, and covered with an auto upholstery fabric on top, and vinyl on the bottom. The vinyl bottoms keep them from getting wet from any leaks or condensation that accumulates on the berths. While the auto fabric is rougher to the touch....I figured that auto fabric would be more durable than the interior stuff used on furniture...and was also UV stabilized. It has not faded a bit. I leave them stored on edge to keep any moisture from being trapped beneath them, and to let them breathe. About 4 years now with no problems. Cost was less than $500. Two sleep systems to go with these. If it's hot...a sheet on the bottom and nothing on top....or I have a jumbo sized beach towel to use as a blanket. If it's running cooler.....I keep my Wiggy's sleeping bag on board. The Wiggy bag will work even if wet and dries out in a few minutes. Howard

I don't think any business practices will change by virtue of an Internet exchange. What I am opposed to is: dis, mis, or censored information.
