North Channel Cruise

I'm planning on a two week North Channel Cruise in mid June. I'll probably drive from Ohio to Tobermory, take the Chi-Cheemaun ferry over to South Baymouth (Manitoulin Island), and then drive to Little Current (Manitoulin Island) on Saturday June 5th. I might end up taking the ferry on the morning of the 6th depending on how late I hit the road. At the present time I'm thinking of making a general counter clockwise spin around the North Channel, launching at Spider Bay Marina in Little Current and going north and then west to the Bustard Islands and west and then crossing south to the west end of Manitoulin and returning east again. Of course, all plans are subject to the weather and whims of the person at the helm! Mid June will probably be a bit ahead of the crowd and still kinda nippy. Buying Sight Unseen

I'm about to purchase a new Montgomery 15 - what propels me to this purchase is your enthusiasm for the Montgomery boats. But I have never even seen this boat in person. My question for you folks is: Have any of you put down your money to purchase a boat that you have never sailed, let alone, seen? Should I? My history is that I have been researching and looking for used Potters for about a year and came across your group and I have been following your writings for months. The upshot of it is that you have convinced me to get me a M15, but it remains a boat that I have never touched, sat in, launched or sailed, or even seen it sailed. The factory is 3,000 miles away from our home in SC, so going there for a first-hand look-see is not a viable option. I'm fortunate that I have a wife who supports my getting into sailing, but she does raise the question if I am of sound mind ordering something sight unseen. What do you think? Hi Norm... I've not used the G-168 on a boat, but it was pretty popular with the locals when I worked at W-Marine a few years ago. Most liked the internal antenna over the hassle of the external one. Hi All, Just a couple more pictures... MSOG Boats & Owners section on page three you'll find M-17 #226 Windsong from Minnesota and... You'll find a nice chilly morning picture of Oregon and Keith Harris on his Gator, towing his M-12. There is also a new album of Keith's M-12. Look for "Harris." I sure hope Santa brought lots of digital cameras to the Montgomery Owners. I'm expecting great things for the Photo Site in 2005... And... any of you folks that happen to be digging through your sailing/sailboat pictures to while away a cold evening. Dont forget, there are lots of folks that would love to see the same pictures you are looking at. So, keep the rest of us in mind and forward me a photo...
