Just toss it overboard...no WAIT!!!

A holiday story... Oh, glorious happy day. Oh, blessings of King Neptune. Against all possible odds and ignoring horizontal sheets of rain, I decided that today was the day that come hell, or high water I was going to try out the recently self renovated (and much maligned) Tahatsu 2.5 outboard. Now keep in mind that this is my FIRST outboard and after its expiration shortly after receiving it, I had little hope of it ever running well (or at all.) Nonetheless, against my better judgment I overhauled the carb, replaced the impeller, fuel line, spark plug, etc. With much trepidation I took the hated beast back down to my beloved little Monty-15 and clamped it on. With the freshest of gas (in the motor) I steeled my resolve to once again pull that cursed starter cord. A brief prayer and PULL! *nothing* A frown and a stern look and PULL! *nothing* A pleading to all that is holy in the world and PULL...VROOM! I stand there stunned as the little monster purrs like the sweetest of kittens!!! I laugh, shout in jubilation, cry like a proud father and jump for joy nearly throwing myself out of the boat. The little monster looks up at me with a condescending "Well, what did you expect?" look in its eye and I just sit there in awe as it purrs away. The rain continues to sheet down and I reluctantly pull the kill switch, knowing that the next time I go down for a sail that the little monster will be waiting...and ready to purr again. I have a standard garage door. backed boat in until bowpulpit height stopped me. Removed trailer extension and using a small rolling floor jack( $20 Sears) let the shortened tongue down to the floor ,and had enough clearance to manually push the boat the rest of the way into garage. Tod, I am guilty of dropping the ball on that. We bought a "new" house and my attention has wandered. I came across another supplier, with better prices: http://www.boulterplywood.com/ If any one else is interested, there would be enough left from a single sheet of 3/8 inch (9 mm) teak ply to make one more set of hatch boards for a M-15. The older models use this thickness of board – the newer ones are thicker I think. Tod, Bill Riker and myself are on the list. Let me know. steve Steve R. Well, I could have raised the tongue back up had I pushed the boat in bow first rather than stern first. Oriented like it is, when the door is up it only clears the pulpit by six or eight inches. If I'd spun it around and pushed it in bow first, I'd have plenty of room to raise it and swivel the jack into place. I'm going to lift the boat off its trailer in the next few weeks to do the bottom. I'm presently reinforcing four of the building's central joists in preparation for that project. I may swap ends prior to picking it up if I decide it makes sense to do so.
