I've been looking for a smaller jib for my M-15 without any success. Does anyone have any leads on where one can be purchased ? Or, if you have one, please send me the measurements. Another "Or", if you have reef points in your M-15 jib, please send a photo or measurements so I can install them in mine. Jib reefing didn't come on the original. Stan Winarski M-15, #177, Carol II

Craig -- I can't speak for all M15s, but on mine, you could change the centerboard pendant without removing the cb completely. If you lower it all the way (gently)you can get at the attachment point while it's still in the trunk. Unless it's pretty new already, I'd definitely replace the line if you've got the board out anyway. What've you got to lose? I've got 1/4-inch nylon braid on mine. Hi Bill, Glad to hear that you like the Forespar Tiller holder, and that it works as I said it would. Now about that performance loss using the Tiller holder: Are you upsetting the boat balance as you head for the cabin to get a beer? Then you can't blame that on the tiller holder! Just readjust it to hold course when you are down below......... but is your arm long enough to do that.......? So far, I find my small "claw" anchor very effective, but like with any anchoring exercise, it is all a function of what type of bottom you have. The anchoring tools have to fit the bottom configuration. After our week of 95 to 100 degree weather in Connecticut, I'm now seriously getting ready to put LEPPO back in the water. I pulled the bolts holding the mast step, and checked the balsa core for deterioration. Then I opened up the area, and finally filled it with epoxy to seal everything. Now it's ready to go back together. I've found a problem with the Forespar Tiller Holder. I have been using it to hold the rudder when I leave the boat at the marina, but now I discovered a longitudinal crack in the new tiller that runs through the Forespar tiller fitting. Conclusion: the outboard wakes and PWC wakes on the lake are strong enough to split the tiller. So, back to the original tiller holding configuration - using heavy bungee cords so that there is some "give" in the system. Connie

Roger two in Texas I know about. Jim Williams Jim Williams <sailinnut(a)juno.com> He just restored this one, new sails, furler. He bought I from a widow and it sat in a barn for several years before he purchased it. He can give you a full story if interested. He's had a few inquiries about it. Dave- ( Canyon Lake, Tx ) Dave posted a message earlier about his. These are a long ways from Oregon but may be worth the trip. I'd buy either one if I had a place for another boat. Randy W. Jerry, You might check with Jim Williams, Jim Williams <sailinnut(a)juno.com> he has a M17 and set it up recently with a furler and new sails, etc. He now lives in San Antonio but was in Kemah before that. He is also the manager of West Marine in San Antonio so knows the business. There are also a couple of guys Alvin and Ken who live in Lake Charles who are Mboaters and in the boating business. Stan, I had a sail loft in Houston make a 60% jib for me. It works well above 15 mph +. It's thicker material than the standard jib. It also has brass hanks which I like. I took my std. jib and they measured the heavy air sail from that. I'm sure any reputablesail loft could make one up for you. If you want to talk to them direct: 800-950-8474 ( C & C Sails ). Hi Stan, Sailrite offers kits and pre-made sales. I checked with them a while back when considering a storm jib. They gave me a price os apx. $100 if I put it together myself, and.... I believe $175 if they built it. There was also some discussion earlier that Kern Sails could make a nice storm jib for a reasonable price. I e-mailed them and received a prompt reply but can't recall the price. My current working jib is from Kern and has reef points. I have tried to use them a couple of times and can't seem to get the knack of how they work. I am heading out of town but if someone doesn't get back to you with a photo/diminsions I would be happy to do some on my return. I never did solve my storm jib problem, as my experience and confidence have been increasing I have moved it down the list. Jerry, I dont know where the boat is now. I believe it went to Richard Porfilio (worked w/ Hank) then ??? I am also disappointed I won't be up there to race. I am in need of a good 'race fix'.
