I'm moving and my M17 is for sale in Alexandria, Minnesota: 1976 Montgomery 17 #MMP172261276 1976 Trail-Rite trailer with tongue extension 1995 6hp Johnson Sailmaster longshaft outboard New factory mast in 2000 New Sobstad cruising main in 2001 Bowers genoa on CDI furler Working jib Anchor and rode This boat has a tangerine (red) hull, adjustable motor mount, swim ladder, plexiglass hatchboards, and is set up for singlehanding with a rollerfurling jib, the main halyard led to the cockpit, and lazy jacks to keep the main under control going up and coming down. This is the galley model, with a sink and water tank, a v-berth, and a single berth to starboard. And, considering all the discussion on the list about stuck centerboards, I'll point out that the centerboard on this boat works perfectly. I'm asking $4,995. I used a certified surveyor, Chip Gardes, who I found on the web. (http://www.marinesurvey.org/) to survey my 78 M17 He was GREAT. Charged $150 and did a through job, identifying several items I never would have found. Got a full report with pictures. Also useful for insurance purposes. Hi Smitty, You open a whole new horizon. How about designing a folding windsurfer to fit on smaller boats? Not everyone owns 40 footers that can accomodate windsurfers! Why leave out the small fry? Connie

Sister Clips

I've been using sister clips the past couple years to attach the sheet to the jib/genoa and have been most satisfied. Thank you to the individual on this list who suggested this method of attachment. After reviewing Doug's pictures, I'd still go with sister clips. Rich Cottrell

selecting a minicruiser

This month's issue of Sailing Magazine has a small article on mini cruisers. Montgomerys were not among them. What a shame! I'll be in Decorrah, Iwoa, later this week for a wedding. I've never been to Iowa, let alone the mid west. I'm looking forward to meeting Marion the Librarian and seeing a real Boys Band. Any Sailing there? Rich Cottrell Really

Thanks Tod. Sounds like the stuff I got last year. Hope you like it. Nothings cheap is it? I used large stainless steel fender washers between my tiller and rudder to protect the finish. I have a 77 M 17. I had a hole in my original rudder that was supposed to be a lifting and tie off when you were transporting the boat on a trailer. I never use it and it was a sources for rotting and cracking. My second new rudder, I left the hole out of it and never missed it. Just pull the rudder up by hand and never worry about the hole.
