Marine Plywood in Minnesota

Can any of you folks in Minnesota recommend a supplier of marine plywood? I need to make new hatch boards for my M-17, and I'm having trouble finding suitable material. Based on the research I've done so far, plus my one shot at this several years ago, I think I want 9mm Aqua-tek Meranti. I've found one supplier in St. Bonifacious, but I have to buy a 4 x 8 sheet, which is double what I need. I haven't yet found anybody who can use the other half. Sorry to hear about Trail-Rite. They did good work and fairly priced - Catalina Yachts sold 1000's of their trailers! In a message dated 2/22/2016 8:19:37 A.M. Progress!

My M17 is now up on blocks—still on the trailer, with axle and roller crossmember removed and the tail of the keel cribbed on the rear crossmember—and the centerboard is out! It came out smooth and easy and has only surface corrosion. I’m waiting for my order of epoxy and miscellaneous supplies to arrive.

A surprisingly nice addition

Yesterday I installed a "Hatch Adjuster" on the forward hatch. I had previously changed the hinge attachment points aft towards the mast so the hatch now acts like a very nifty air duct into the v-berth when it is opened only about 45 degrees. Probably just as important, I don't have to worry about the hatch closing on my "noggin" while I work inside the berth area. The adjuster became an instant success without even getting the hull wet. I have no stock, or etc. with the "SeaDog Line" of boat doodads. Here is their part number if you decide to install one of their stainless/nylon hatch adjusters. #321291-1. I had to place a plastic wedge behind the lower attachment point to shim it vertical due to the slight cant molded into the Monty hatch trim. Everything else lined up just right. The slide lock can be rotated 360 degrees by loosening two set screws so the knob can be placed in a comfortable position to lock the slide open or closed. Trunk Disease

Finally got around to looking at the keel on my (’84) M17 and it has the disease—the centerboard trunk is separated all the way around the lip. I can have it hoisted up next week and see if the centerboard operates. If not…well, let’s worry about that later. In the mean time I’d like to know if the two centerboard pins are sleeved where they go through the stub keel, and if not, how to make them seal inside the slot.

Mast raising...

Hello all,, It's been too quiet. So I thought I'd stir the pot. Let's hear how you raise your mast. Currently I have a single block I attach to the bow, I run a line from furler through the block then back to me via the winch. I heave ho, and take up the slack and cleat it off while I attach the furler. A bit precarious, but works ok. I'm considering a double block for some purchase. Jazz
