Group, I reckon that admitting one is wrong is the next best thing to being right. My heavily-loaded 2004 M17 was closer to 23.5" draft, board up, which seems more reasonable given the presently advertised waterline of 21" (presumably empty of gear). It still does not compare with Jerry's figure of 19.25" for designed waterline. There is no doubt that the water gets somewhere around the bottom of the 5th wrinkle regardless, but the distance is difficult to measure on dirt. I did not have the trailer level enough the first go-around. David Patterson came up with 22.75" in a boat with standard gear, so we are singing the same tune. To finish up, my IdaSailor rudder apparently extends 7" lower than my stock fixed model, so it makes a better bottom probe. Tom Jenkins Scintilla

Defender seems to carry fuel fittings for everyone. You do need to use a pair from the same OEM, unfortunately there is no standard for conformity. They have fittings from most OEMs as well as those produced by third parties like Attwood and Tempo. Defender generally does a good job of indicating which fittings goes on the tank and which attaches to the engine, as opposed to simply stating the gender. There are aftermarket fittings which thread in to an engine and fitings with hose barbs. There are also fittings with hose barbs which will thread into an engine. Of course the hose barbs need a hose clamp to secure the hose. Gas rated hose and clamps should be available at your local hardware, big box discount store or DIY center. If you study the offerings for a while you should be able to hook up any tank, even an inexpensive aftermarket tank, to any engine. steve Steve R. I spent about 2 and a half hours out on the lake today trying out a "new" jib on my M-15. Weather service said winds were 10 to 15 (seems to me the gusts might have been a little higher), and I used a "genoa" I had made for a Bauer 10 I used to own, which is probably pretty much a large storm jib. Anyway, GPS said I averaged 3.9 mph withs max speed of 6.4 mph and no stress, didn't dump the main or even spill a beverage. Great day on a great boat. Mike

Hi Sean, Thanx much for the Havasu site link. I really enjoyed the pics, especially sailing shots. It gives a good idea of the sailing characteristics of the M23.
