I would suggest a solar panel and LED lighting for the interior and running lights. I use a Uni Solar 11 flexable panel. It charges a battery enough during the day to power LED lights easily. How do some of you power your battery if you stay out there for a week or two? Right now I have only the runing lights on it, but I would like to add more items but I do not know whether to go for solar or generator. Any experience among you folks? Phil

Well we had a great time sailing on CJ Strike Reservoir this last Friday and Saturday.? Friday we got the boat rigged and my wife backed it in the water (first time) and all was well.? There was a very light breeze and I was pushing off, when I went to step in my shorts caught on the cockpit cleat and I came up short.? There I was hanging on the side Pilgrim one foot in the boat and my bottom hanging in the water.? Very nice start of what would be a fine day motoring and sailing around the lake.? Next morning at breakfast they make sure we knew that they (the guys in the pup) had enjoyed the show.? Next day , Sat, the wind was up and we sailed down the Narrows, a channel between two ends of the lake.? We were wing on wing going down and about half way when we realized we would be tacking a great many times to get back.? Coming back was very fun, tack sail as close hauled as we could Tack repeat, repeat, repeat.? We really got tacking down, with both of us taking turns on the tiller and the lines.? Later in the day the wind came up pretty stiff (for us) and we got to practice sailing with some effort required to set the sails.? We had a couple accidental jibes, very instructional.? Evening came and we put Pilgrim back on the trailer and had a good time at the pub with some friends that just happen to be there.? Trip report: Channel Islands/Anacapa/Ventura- Sea sickness

Just back from attending the Socal Potters (and friends) Channel Islands/Anacapa/Ventura adventure. 4, yes 4 Montgomerys participated and we had a great time. Attendees included 'Jo and I on the M23 Dauntless, Matt Marx on the M17 "Lily", Fuh-shing, and Shi-lan Pan on their M-15 "Panasea", and Bill and Day on their M-15 "Gee-Wiz". Some of us arrived a couple days early and sailed up the coast from Channel Islands Harbor to Ventura Harbor and spent the night, before returning the following morning to Channel Islands Harbor. Then, on Sat morning we set out for Anacapa Island. On the way Jo and I were treated to the most breathtaking show of dolphin acrobatics I have ever seen. It was like a National Geographic TV show. We followed a pod for a couple of miles. I have no idea how many dolphins there were, but I would have to guess over 100. Some of them would jump out of the water and completely flip in mid air. It was so cool we followed them even though it took us miles off course. Afterwards we met back up with the fleet at Anacapa Island for a lunchtime raft up on the hook. Then back to Channel Islands Harbor for the night. Every night we all sat on the docks around a small lantern until everyone was too tired to stay up anymore. What a great time. The friendships that have developed between the Monty and Potter guys from the Southern California area have really grown over the last few years. If you live anywhere within driving distance of one of these events I would wholeheartedly encourage you to come join us for the next one! Haven't gotten the pictures posted yet, but I will post a link as soon as I do. Big Thanks goes out to "Captain Howie" of the Socal Potters for organizing the trip. On a side note. 'Jo has always suffered from sea-sickness to some extent. She usually uses the Scopalamine patches and they usually are effective enough to let her somewhat enjoy the trip, although not always. She's tried all the other stuff too, pressure bands, ginger, Dramamine, etc,etc,etc. Just before this trip I read an article, I think in Cruising World, by Nigel Calder praising the product called "Relief Band". Nigel is a very well respected world cruiser and he described how this product worked wonderfully for both himself and his wife. It looks like a watch,but has two electrodes on the back that stimulate the same nerve the pressure band bracelets(which didn't do a thing for her) are supposed to stimulate. So, we bought one. WOW! Jo reports that she has never felt so good. Absolutely NO sea sickness AT ALL...AND...no side effects like the medications! Woohoo!!! Out trip out to Anacapa and back had us on the water for almost 7 hours and she felt great! That included rocking and rolling at anchor for an hour a the island. What a super product. Is it just cause she believed it would work? Who knows? But nothing else she has ever tried worked like this. Over four days of sailing on the ocean she never once got the slightest bit ill. AND, she was even going down inside the cabin while underway, something that used to get her feeling bad immediately. When I saw her go down inside, make a sandwich and eat it I knew something was working. We are in total agreement with Nigel Calder that the "Relief Band" product is revolutionary!! Hi, I just joined the mailing list and would like to introduce myself. My name is Steve and I currently own a 1981 Pearson P26 [anyone interested in buying her?]. Unfortunately, my firstmate [and lifemate] has gotten increasingly uncomfortable on the water and I am not prepared to single-hand the P26. We sail on the Great South Bay on the south shore of Long Island, NY. Winds there are typically around 10-12 knots during the summer. However the bay is shallow in many spots and you have to watch where you're going. I was surfing the web for daysailers that I could single-hand and trailer when I came across the Montgomery site. Looks ideal to me. I would like to get a closer look at an M15 or M17 is there is an owner in the area. I should add that I spend part of every week [M-Th] in Rhose Island, in case there are any owners on Narragansett Bay. With a stout little boat like a Montgomery, I might even be able to entice my mate back on to the water. happy sailing, Steve
