Hi, I'm considering the acquisition of a M-15 or M-17. Most of the time, I'd be sailing in the St-Lawrence River (Quebec, Canada), with tidal currents reaching 4-5 knots and frequent choppy sea. Any advice on suitability of M-15 or M-17 in such conditions ? Any of you in Northeast USA or Canada (so that I could have a look at the boat) ? Thank you very much ! Saturday sailing - Port of Everett

Conditions at Port of Everett tommorow (saturday) look to be sunny, 74 degrees, winds SSW at 10 to 20 mph. We are thinking about putting in our M17-635 Eidolon mid morning and just have some fun. Would love to meet some of you other Monty owners (haven't met anyone yet). Also, if we happened to meet on the water, I would really appreciate it if someone could take a picture of us on a good point of sail. All of my pictures are from standing on the boat or of the boat in the launch area. I'll bring my camera just in case! Put off mowing the grass till next week! Come sail! (btw, Port of Everett has 13 boat ramps and tons of parking. I think it is still $5 for parking, free launch)

I got the following idea from "Good Old Boat." Make up draw string bags, and then pull the ties through a CD, and label the contents on it. The bags can conform to the shape of the hull. New SoCal M-17 Owner

Hello All... I just finalized the purchase of 1977 M17 Chica Buena here in San Diego and have begun minor upgrades to get her dialed in and sail ready for Summer. For a 1977 she is in great shape after having been purchased from Bob Eeg by the prior owner in 2004. I understand Bob did quite a bit to her before she was purchased, so she has "good bones" and the work needing to be done is mostly cosmetic. I have been reviewing the list for several months in preparation and must say that you all are terrific with the information shared. I am trusting that perhaps I can make a bit of a contribution as well. I am a bit of a compulsive nut and plan many upgrades. I would really enjoy connecting with all of you, but am particularly interested to learn of the Southern California M17 and M15 owners and wonder if there are any rallys or gatherings that may be planned or in planning stages? There is another fabulous M17 here in San Diego's Mission Bay and I am looking forward also to finding out who owns that boat...she is really nice. Bow rail removal

I just removed, varnished and re-bedded all the brightwork on my M-17. Now I'd like to re-bed my bow rail, since I'm seeing gaps in the bedding compound -- but I can't it off. I've removed the bolts and banged the rail with a hammer and piece of wood, but the thing seems cemented in place. I'd hate to yank out chunks of deck with the pulpit. I'm assuming that the rail was originally bedded with polysulfide caulk. Has anyone else had this trouble -- or have a good solution? Thanks, Gordon
