We went for our first sail of the season on Tuesday, wind 15 knots, temps 70+ on the Hudson. It was short and sweet, nothing broke,nothing left home. However, upon returning to the ramp my daughter asked, " aren't you going to pull up the centerboard?". Ooops. So, I forgot. Don't you forget the centerboard. Rick Langer M15 #337

For what it's worth, we bought a 3500# hitch from an online company that shipped it to us direct. Installation was quite simple, about an hour's work. Basically you bolt the thing on. I don't recall the particular company, but there are several online. I do remember that it was based in a northern (Wisconsin?) state. If you can handle boat and trailer maintenance, you can do this job. John I thought you sold "Chimpanzee" I just installed new LED trailer lights. Completely sealed and you can forget and leave them on when you dunk the trailer w/o a worry. This is the only way to go. Don

Hi Bobbie, Welcome back. I had a 2 HP Suzuki that I used on a ComPac 16. It was a great little engine and was more than enough to push it under all circumstances that I encountered. (not 5 knot tides running against you........) On the M15 I use a 2 HP HONDA, and it is equally as good, and preferable since it is a four stroke engine - no mixing oil and gasoline for fuel - I'd get the Suzuki running and give it a try before heading in another direction...... I haven't looked at Craig's list for trailers. I DID try U-Haul last summer, they ordered the hitch, only really didn't, reordered, didn't, were supposed to tell me as soon as it came in, and didn't, and I had to leave town earlier than I expected and didn't get it. (They never did call to say it was in so I probably need to start all over now.) They did do the hitch on my previous vehicle so they were (and unfortunately still are) my first choice. I called about three weeks early last time, its five weeks away so I'd better call now! Motor: I would kind of like a more powerful motor than the Suzuki. It might start; I have not even tried it. It was drained before storage so old gas should not be a problem. But it will do absolutely nothing against a rip tide. If the Honda 2 HP would it might be worth upgrading. (My nephews would kill to have the Suzuki to use on a dinghy.) My trailer is in pretty good condition except for the tires and no wheel well covers (whatever they are called, the things I stood on to get onto the boat until they broke!) But where I am going (Whidbey) it would help with launching to have the tongue extender. I also need a new tongue jack, I think, or at least a wheel for mine. Those things could wait until I get to Washington and see how the ramps look. I'm only going to be there for the summer, but the M15 is staying up there. Bobbie

In the Fresno (I lived in Visalia for a short time) area it should be an easy project. Look under Hitches in the Yellow pages. The Forester should do wonderful as a tow vehicle. About that trailer. You should ask where you get the hitch if anyone they may know could give you a hand. Often times it's possible that the installer (the technician) of the hitch may do a side job as long as your needs dont conflict with their Company mission. If need be and you cant get the Susy-Q to run, it seems like lots of the M-Boaters have gone to the Honda 2hp. Where are you landing in WA? Bill M-17 San Francisco

Hi, all, I am going to be getting my M15 out of the garage in Fresno and moving it to Washington State soon. I have a few things I need to do to make it seaworthy again (and highway worthy, too.) First, my tow vehicle is a Subaru Forester. First job is to get a hitch put on; this is where I got stalled last summer as the dealer never got the hitch in before I had to leave for Washington. I really wish I had one of the newer trailers but I don't think that is going to happen unless I can find one in Northern California. I definitely need new trailer tires. (My boat is an 84, #321.) Then I MAY need a new motor; I have the old Suzuki and have not run it in ten years. Anyway, any advice on towing vehicle, motors, and getting a boat out of "dry dock" is welcomed. Bobbie
