Hi Connie, I'm always reminded... If I had no shoes remember the person with no feet. Are you folks in a normal weather pattern or is this not unusual for this time of year. Hopefully it's not a normal occurance. Sounds like your area had what was called a gully washer when I lived in Oregon. The best thing about the rain is the cleansing the area gets, both the streets and in nature and the fresh growth everywhere. Oh... maybe most impressive is the smell of the air right after the storm. Sort of an Ozone freshess like one can almost taste the clean air. Will the M15 do this?

In order of frequency, I do the following types of sailing on Lake Michigan out of Chicago. Is the M15 the right boat for my needs? Saturday/Sunday morning solo (obviously the M15 is great for this) Saturday afternoon with the wife and two kids. Weeknight two-hour cocktail cruise with the wife and another couple in light weather only. Hi Bill, To make you feel a bit better, Friday in Connecticut was a washout. Pouring rain; heavy thunderstorms; and the newspapers even talked of a mini-tornado in our area (Glastonbury). We lost power for 6 hours. Saturday was much better. At noon I couldn't see across the street the rain was coming down so hard. The papers reported for a time it was 1" per hour of rain! Thunder and lightning; high winds. Luckily we didn't loose power a second time (I had just finished resetting all the clocks) All traffic on I-84 came to a complete stop. The rain was so heavy that visibility was 0! Over in Hartford, on Franklin avenue Saturday, the drains couldn't handle the water volume so cars got stranded in the road (a main artery) and police rescued people from their cars using - now get this - a boat! The newspaper accounts said at one spot water was up to the windows of the cars................! T'weren't good sailing weather! So much for Saturday But today is gorgeous, while everyone cleans up the debris and damage from the past two days; dries out their cellars; and cuts up the fallen tree limbs! Happy sailing! Connie

Hello Ducham, I've sailed ours (M15) with 3 adults & dog and we all fit. The set up time on the M15 is pretty quick and it is a good sailing boat. I recently downsized from a 20 ft. Ranger and although I enjoyed the size and capability of the 20 ft. I use the M15 a lot more. I'd say go for the M15. I would also say on the value scale the M15 holds its own if you buy a good condition one. my 2 cents worth. Randy W. Oarlocks and Oarlock Sockets

Connie or anyone who has a "Nymph", would you please give me some oarlock socket measurements? I presently have one set of sockets setup for single handling and would now like to add a set for a passenger sitting astern. If I had a second passenger sitting in the bow I guess I would use the single handling sockets? Also, I have Perko North River oarlocks that have a pin rivet holding them to the oar. I like these oarlocks. They keep the oars attached to the boat and they are easy to use especially for novice rowers. But I've never been happy, in the past, with the way that I've attached the pin. Would someone give me advice on how to round over this pin rivet. Thanks, Rick Langer M15 "Sialia" #337 p.s. I finally decided on a name for my boat after watching a bluebird couple use the boats horizontal mast as their favorite hunting perch while feeding their brood and she does have a blue hull.

Hi Paul, Just saw you post / questions (on the Potter forum) regarding the same in a P-19. I would think it prudent to compare the M-15 to the P-15. Some of us M Boat owners have owned P boats. You'll find that comparison to bring out lots of the P boats faults. Then if size is the issue, compare the M-17 to the P-19. Again, you'll find that some of us tried the P boats before graduating to the M Boats. The M Boats aren't usually a sailors first sailboat. The M Boats are purchased after being disolutioned and dissapointed with other brands. They cost more, are better built, are stronger and much faster... etc, etc. You be the judge. The best way to convince yourself of the abilities of each one is to test sail. If you are serious about buying your sailboat, put that request on the owners groups. I'll guess there are plenty of P boats in your area as well as some Montys. You'll be very glad you found out about the M Boats before you buy something you may not wish to keep. Like the Bay Area, I've read some pretty harrowing accounts of sailing in your part of the country. My advice... (for what it's worth) look closely at the seaworthiness of each craft you are considering. Hi Paul, If your two children aren't Sumo wrestlers, but are in the normal child weight range, your application for an M15 sounds fine to me. Solo sailing is obviously a "10" Saturday afternoon with wife and two children (in reasonable sailing weather) is at least an "8" Weeknight two hour cocktail cruise with another couple (in reasonable sailing weather) is at least another "8". The ranking assumes: You are a good sailor, and have the sense not to go out when it's blowing 25 or more knots. Put the cooler with the drinks in the cabin to balance the boat trim. I've sailed my M15 with adult daughter and her two teen age sons, and we had a ball! Connie M15 #400

After all, it is a fifteen foot boat... I have sailed a couple of times in the M-15. You are absolutely right, in that it is easily transportable. So easy in fact I nearly bought one so I could keep my Honda and not buy a larger less fuel efficient vehicle. However... I bought the M-17. When I sailed the M-15 there was only two of us. There would have been room for a couple more people, and the boat will surely love to carry the extra weight. Problem being, where would you "comfortably" put the extra people?... I bought the M-17. I used to own a Potter 15. Okay boat, has a compression post right in the middle of the cabin, not to mention the centerboard trunk. The M-15 has a very large and open cabin with no post. One person (two kids) can easily hang out in the cabin. However, that's not to much of a social cruise... I bought the M-17 After pondering the alternative, my needs and requirements... I saved up the extra needed, got the "two foot itus" bug and went with the M-17. Like the M-15, she has a very nice cabin, roomy cockpit, definitely strong and overbuilt and my most prized attribute, she is very seaworthy. In my opinion, when you look at the other craft out there, the M boats are on top. They cost a little more (unless you get lucky) than the competition (opposition)... However, the extra will be worth it when it comes to the security and safety you'll enjoy should you get into a good blow. And there's the resale value. You'll find the used boats in good condition to be a tad expensive. But, don't forget ... your boat will be a tad expensive when it comes time for resale. Unless you pass it on to the kids (lots of M Boat owners do). There you go... I'm pretty sure someone else can add volumes to my perception of the M-15 as I haven't owned one. I do love the way they sail, the way they look, the compliments and questions at the dock, the space in the cabin, the durability and seaworthy construction. I just got caught up in the size thing. For me, I hate spending money on gas for an inefficient (in comparison) tow vehicle. However, when we go sailing the wind is free and with the extra size my options aren't as limited. Good luck in your boat search... BTW, if you sign your post we can be a little more polite and direct the answer to you.
