Howard, I think everyone will launch from the ramp under the Paxtuent River bridge. I dont know the name of it or the cost but Doug Kelch should have that info, he has launched there in the past. So far 5 for dinner Gary

Hi Paul, I'm probably about as far away from Chicago as possible. But, I've got a suggestion, look in the owners list in the MSOG. You'll possibly be able to contact someone off list who doesn't spend a great deal of time on the Internet. Yea, there are some people still like that. As far as asking for a free sail. I think I speak for most of us in the M-Cult. We love our craft, wish more people would join our group and would be proud to show off our boats. Hi George... How cool, someone out there knows what I mean when I say the street is steep. Well actually, THE STREET IS STEEP! There, that's better. Imagine backing a 55,000 pound load up that hill at maybe 2 mph. BTW, the reason I had to back up is, If I drove up head first the concrete would run out of the drum onto the street. Thanks Doug... I needed that. I spent a little time in Mass with another industry. We were headquartered out of Bridgeport, PA. Some of my first assignments were Alston, Framingham (I remember the Sheridan Tara Hotel), Somerville (I think), Hyde Park and a place north of Logan that was absolutely beautiful... Island something or something Island. Can't recall, that was 20+ years ago. I guess if you were to take a few months you wouldn't be able to put a dent in the available sailing places. East coast differs greatly from the Left Coast. Coastal cruising here is best done in a 30' plus deep keel or full keel craft. It's all open ocean. However... Hawaii is just 20 some odd days away from San Francisco. Just a pipe dream! Thanks for the recount of your trip. Like I said, I needed that. BTW, not rolling in the dough, but saving it up so I don't have to work when the rains come. I'll let the young guys with families fight over the 20 to 30 hours a week while I'm in warmer climes, spending the money I'm making now. Here it is almost 11PM. I got in 14 hours today. I'll start tomorrow at 7:30 and go home when they say I'm done. I love Saturdays... It's all Overtime pay! And for those who care... Today was a copy of yesterday, only warmer. Beautiful clear day with lots of too rich people on their sailboats out cruising in SF Bay. Very pretty. Very San Francisco Post Card Like. An I was working like a dog. Now that's almost cruel. Working, working, working...

I'm not complaining and I realize one must be careful what one hopes for... This week brought on 5 week days of at least 10 hours each and Saturday at 13 hours. For a total of 68 hours. So today, Sunday, I'm just hanging out and relaxing. Wishing I could be sailing. I know some of you have been sailing this weekend, and I love to read about the accounts of others, especially when I cant be the do'er. Come on post your tales... Bill SF Bay M-17 #496 "Tiperary"

Randy, Those SF days are indeed very rare. But since it happened I just had to mention how great it was. Strange thing, the weather may be the same today. Thanks for the Toyota report. I've considered T-100's. In this area most are owned by contractors and are beat to death body wise, while still going strong. Hard to find a nice one. Bill SF Bay M-17 #496 "Tiperary"

I've got friends with newer chev PU getting about the same mileage. Also a contractor friend getting about the same with his Powerstroke Ford Diesel 3/4 ton 4X4. New american trucks are awsome. HOWEVER... I'm anal about vehicles. Used to be in the auto industry watching people make strange decisions with their buying/driving habits. I want to stay under 20K with this vehicle. The locking diff is aftermarket and I'll install it myself and yes it's about $400.00. Toyotas isn't a true locker as most manufacturers aren't. Most are limited slip. Bill

Hi Bill, Thanks for the weather report, bay view in SF, make us feel bad, go ahead. We've had a couple of trucks. I think the best in regards to mileage, etc. was a Toyota T100. It had the strong 4 cyl. and it got over 20 mpg. If you can find one it might be worth checking. Our current truck a Chevy V8, is a great truck, has the towing package, tows well but doesn't turn in the high MPG. The diesel models may do better. I'm, as always, concerned with mileage. Not so much when towing but with general use. Any experience with one yourself or maybe with a friends? One of my deliveries was to the North side of the City in the hills overlooking the bay. As I'm working, the cable cars are dropping off tourists who are feverently clicking away at the beauty of the SF Bay area. Today was a day that if Tiperary was here I'd be taking tomorrow off. I was awe struck and I live here... Then reality hit with the next delivery. I had to back up Elizabeth Street about three blocks. Elizabeth is the fourth steepest in the city. On the turns I was puckering a bit. Cement mixer trucks are a bit top heavy... Just a bit! I always tell my friends I've never yet found out how far one can lean before it tips over... and that's a good thing...
