Hi Bud and the rest of the list, First order of business, MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! The San Juan / Gulf Islands rendezvous is still in the early planning stages, but there are already 16 boaters on the trip e-mail list. Dates have not been set yet, but should be soon after the first of the year. We will probably be going in early June again to beat the summer crowds. That worked well last year and it was very enjoyable to be able to all dock together and socialize in the evenings. The only thing bad about last years trip was that it got over too soon, so this time we're looking at making it a two week trip. You won't have to commit to both weeks however. I'll try to set our route and schedule so that people can come for just one week or both. We'll hit the San Juans first, returning to some favorites from last year and checking out some new areas, and then we'll cross over into the Canadian Gulf Islands for about a week before returning to Anacortes. If you're interested in going, send me your e-mail address and I'll add you to the list. Bud, you asked if this is the 2005 rendezvous. There are several Monty gatherings each year across the country, all more or less informal, so I don't know if any could claim to be THE rendezvous, but this will probably be the biggest of the year in the northwest. John, I bought my M15 (hull #500) new from Jerry M. back in '90 or'91. When I ordered it I ask Jerry to build her using lead ballast in place of the steel ballast. I felt there would be fewer problems down the road with the keel and Jerry told me it would be a little bit stiffer with the lead ballast. I do most of my sailing on the Great Lakes and seldom sail her near shore. Congratulations on your new M15. Many wonderful memories await you and your family. Hi Bob. Last year the NW Potter group discussed joining our trip, but there didn't seem to be much interest, so it died out. There are no Potters signed up yet for this years trip, but they are certainly welcome. I've had some great trips sailing with their group. We do have some former Monty owners coming in their current boats. (Non Such, Catalina,...) HI Bo, Congrats on the new M15, and welcome to the group! On the flip side of the weather picture, when I picked up my M23 off Lake Mead it was July in Nevada. We stepped the mast, buttoned her up, and checked trailer bearings in the asphalt parking lot in high 90 degree heat! Talk about sweating. My trip was hauling over the Rockies to home in Minnesota. Did it in 3.5 days. Lots of M owners have gone further to get their little lapstrakers. Larry : Re San Juan rondezvous

Hi Larry, I wrote to you a few months ago and ask that you put my name on the list for the 2005 rendezvous. I'm not sure if its on the list or not so I'm writing again. Please add my name and keep me posted on information about it. I plan on being there for two weeks. If I'm able to get our of bed I'll be there. Fortunately I'm retired so time isn't an issue. If a small modest toy motor home I have will pull the M15 I'll tow the boat with that. Will there be a safe place near by that I can stay in the motor home while on land and leave it while I'm staying on the boat? If the boat is to much of a load for the motor home I'll pull it behind a car and sleep in the boat. Either way it will be quite an adventure. Thinking about the rendezvous brightens these dreary winter days. Wish I could pack up tonight and head out tomorrow for the rendezvous! Please let me know if you need my email address. John; New boat on order

John, one other change I would have made when I ordered my M15 from Jerry M. was getting a full set of tan bark sails. I owned a 1996 Stonehorse for a few years and she had tan bark sails. They are more enjoyable to sail with. I just loved 'em. If the time ever comes for me to replace the sails on my M15 I'll replace them with tan bark sails.
