Contessa for sale

I have a 1984 contessa for sale. There is no headroom and even though the boat is one of the best sailing vessels I have ever sailed if it does not offer the creature comforts offered by many boats it doesn't seem to matter. Also it can be trailered but I would not call it a trailerable boat. It is heavy. Big keel. It's pretty much the same with the little Flicka. The Albin Vega is usually a older boat and they have many structural problems. I have a friend who had one and he just donated it to a college because he could not sell it. Kirk

p.s. My friend and I were so thick-headed when we had the retrieval problem, it took the ranger in charge of the DNR ramp, after watching our repeated failed attempts, to saunter over and ask us if we had a centerboard that we hadn't raised, before we figured out what was wrong. Boy, did we feel dumb!!! adding a big step

I would like to add a little platform, like a wide step, just to sit and rest a bit when swimming and diving from the stern, would the thickness of the stern be strong enough, thru bolted of course with a back up plate.

It's the "trailerable" part that's tough. I was very taken with both the Albin Vega and the Contessa 26, but I _really_ wanted standing headroom. I would probably have bought a CD25D had one turned up at the right price, but I was lucky enough to find a Vancouver 25 that is just about perfect for me. I can't begin to imagine handling that much boat on a trailer, though. The M-23 would be nice, of course but (and I hardly like to say this) have you considered something "ordinary" like a Catalina 25? If we exclude standing headroom and a separate head compartment the Compac 23 is rather a nice boat. The Pacific Seacraft 25 is nice, but the PS Dana 24 is (IMHO) much nicer. Or how about a Flicka? Boy, it's fun spending somebody else's money! Bill, I had to load my M17 (#200) once with the centerboard down when the pendant broke. It worked fine. My trailer has a roller under the centerboard that pushed it up as the boat came onto the trailer.
