I would say it sounds like a router or switch problem. When the users have no throughput, can they ping the IP address of the ARC card? Dropped Calls on Dual PRI NAC

Hi there, I am experiencing a problem with my Dual PRI NAC card. It has been stable and working fine for the last year or so. However, a few days back, it began disconnecting users. Basically what happens is that the calls are received and terminated awithout any problem for abtout 10 minutes then all calls are terminated suddenly. Subsequently, any incoming calls are picked up without any problems for the next 10 minutes before they are all dropped again. I have tried using a new Dual PRI card with no improvement. I also had the Telco switch my physical interface connection. Any ideas out there? Has anyone evry encountered this before? Specs, 1 Hiper ARC with 14 Quad Modems cards. Dual E1 CAS Application Card Revision 1.3.98 (Card Id: 27) DRAM Installed : 4 M Flash ROM Installed : 1 M Regards, Ndegwa

Software Revisions and Required Hardware

Hello folks, I'm hoping one of you can help out as I haven't been dealing with our total control hardware as of late. We have some sites that are running fairly old code on them and we're considering upgrading. At this point we're basically running TCS 3.6 on them. Since the recent outbreak of worms and virus's we've been having issues with our NMC's going unresponsive. I'm not exactly sure what's happening but taking into account what they have been doing to some of our other gear I'm guessing the NMC's are receiving a good number of ICMP packets and probably filling up their memory and then crashing....just a guess. I'm assuming the majority of people on this list are using more current code and since I haven't seen anyone complaining of the same scenario I'm thinking that somewhere a particular code might have addressed some of these issues we're now seeing. Can anyone confirm a code revision that addressed anything like this for the NMC's? Also....can anyone tell me what the most current code is that can run on our existing hardware without upgrading the hardware (we might be willing to upgrade memory). Here's basically what we're using: HiperDSP (8MB dram / 2MB flash) HiperArc (128MB dram / 16MB flash) Hiper and regular NMC's ( 16MB dram / 8 MB flash) 130 amp PSU's Thanks in advance, Todd

Software download question

I have been looking for 30 minutes this morning and still cant figure out where to find software downloads for the Total Control series. I've searched 3com to no avail - I think the old link was totalservice.usr.com and that doesnt work either. I know I am way out of the loop but could someone point me in the right direction? Alex: Thanks for your reply. I think the following information further clarify my earlier question: (a) My network is for Dial-In customers only. In that case, is there any problem if I use private addresses for ARC & NMC? (b) I do have sufficient IP (255) addresses to use for Dial-In customers. But using private IP addresses make it easy to program 3Com Chassis. I can assign a private IP address to all modems whereas right now I have to assign IP addresses to only 4-T1 (96 modems). I want to design the setup whereas 3Com Chassis might be located behind a firewall. The firewall server can translate the private IP addresses to public IP addresses via masquerading. This way if tomorrow, I switch the carrier providing the T1 & block of public IP addresses, I have no changes to 3Com Chassis. Do you get the picture? Here are my thoughts: PUBLIC IP's: Never seen someone "hack" into a chassis - keep your passwords and snmp info to yourself and I think you'll be fine. PRIVATE IP's: You can do this and you can assign private IP's to your users. I've actually run a chassis behind a cheap Linksys DSL router and it worked awesome. BUT (and this is a BIG "but"), as soon as you do, you'll find you have a whole bunch of users doing things you never thought of that don't work in that arrangement or with any type of NAT and they'll all be mad they don't have live IP's.
