Northwest cruise

The fifth "almost-annual" northwest cruise will begin this coming weekend. Boats will be arriving from all over the western US, and as far away as Arizona, Texas, and Utah, to spend two weeks sailing together in the San Juan Islands and the Canadian Gulf Islands. This trip has been in the planning stages since last fall, and at one time we had as many as 30 boats hoping to participate, before the roster settled in on a final count of seventeen. hoisting the M17 by the toe rail

Anyone consistently using the toe rails to hoist the boat in/out of the water? I know Jerry said he used the toe rail at the factory - wondered about using this on a "weekly" basis with the 2-ton hoist at Alameda Marina? This is my 2nd M17 (bought a new one from Jerry in 1991 via Gale Stockdale!). Thanks for any input. Jay

Painting the hull

Chris, One method of lifting an M15 is from the four points comprised the two chain plates and the two stern cleats. There's no need to lift from the bow. On a cruise last year we lifted four boats in and out of the water for a total of eight lifts with this method and the boats were packed for cruising. No problems. I might have a picture or two of the operation if you want to see them. Hi All, As Ken from California said, I bought his M17 last weekend. I'm very excited, this being my first boat. The boat is ready to sail, and will shortly be in the water in outside of Eugene, OR. I will wait until this coming winter to add many of my loving touches, though there are some small things that I'll have to work on this summer too (for my sanity, not necessity!). I towed it home over many hundreds of miles with an older 4cyl Toyota pickup with no problems whatsoever, though a little slow on the uphills...I maintained 17 mpg on Hwy 101. If any of the other M17 owners in Eugene are listening, I'd love to take a look at your boats to see how you've got them set up and decked out. I'm sure I'll have many questions before long. Thanks to Ken for his wonderful stewardship over the past 12 years. And thanks to you all for being here! With best regards, Paul C.

once again jerry confirms that the M15 can be easily lifted using (with a big enough lever). the quality of the boats continues to amaze! when SCRED, my M15 #288, was being inspected for sale the buyer was very impressed by the hull-to-deck joint. besides the obvious quality of the layup, the number of thru-bolts is an amazing number for a 'little trailer sailor'. as i do various tasks on my 'new to me' M17 #375 the quality of the boat is obvious. SWEET PEA just received a hull and topsides buff-out and waxing. having spent most of her life on buoy in quartermaster harbor the fiberglass was in good condition with minimal chalking. just a bit of elbow grease (not much really) SWEET PEA look like she just came out of the factory. Hi... We are taking a Trade In 2006 model Montgomery 15 with Trailer. Email me on the backside and I will send you the Specs, equipment and pricing information in a couple of days after we inspect and inventory this boat. So far, she looks brand new. I do remember installing padeyes for lifting and launching at a Yacht Club hoist. And the trailer has never been in the water. We are shipping boats North and East in the near future and could probably load this completed boat on a load going your direction. (we have a new M_17 going to the midwest on Monday, Missouri/Kansas area and we might have room for this M_15; also have other M_boats going all the way to the East coast and down to the Florida/Georgia area.
