Planning to do a Elliott Bay/Blake Island day

Hey guys, time to stop talking about your boat and start using it! Going to take our M17-635 Eidolon down to Don Armeni boat ramp (right south of the Duwamish Head) in Elliott Bay (Seattle, WA) to have some fun this Saturday June 7. We plan to sail to Blake Island (a state park island with mooring not far west of Elliott Bay) and maybe have lunch on the shore there. Then on the way back, cruise along the waterfront and make everyone on Pier 70 wish they had a Montgomery ;-) Be glad to see any of you there! Montgomery 15 or 17 in the New England

Hi, I have been sailing a Com-Pac 16 for 5 years, and have become disappointed with its performance (especially upwind). The Montgomery 15 or 17 seems like it may be a better choice. Before I decide to purchase one, I would like to know if there is anyone in the New England/New York area that has one that I could take a look at. Thanks Charlie

We found an older Compac 16 that needed work, fixed it up over the winter and then sailed it the next summer. Even with new sails we just were not thrilled with its performance so we sold it. This past fall we bought a Monty 17 and the difference is like night and day when comparing it to the Compac. I had one of the older Compacs that did not have a center board or bowsprit, both of which I think would have made a difference in performance. tickles my soul

plagerized lyrics from the song "bubbly"   It tickles my soul, from the bottom of my toes to the tip of my nose - what is it?   Seeing the fleet of 6 Montgomery boats under sail in nice winds on the Cheasapeake cruise last week - 2 with white sail, 3 with tanbark, and 1 with egyptian cotton -  a very pretty sight. We bring our own scenery.   We saw very few boats out in this remote section of the Potomac river (4 miles wide) and its tributaries - Yecomico River.   Another great criuse with good winds but unstable weather.:  Friday winds were 10 - 15 with gusts to 25, Saturday tornado watch, winds 15 -20 with gusts to 30, Thunderstrom Saturday night with gust to 35 and very close lighting Sunday winds 8 - 12 with a vicious line squall/thunderstorm at 50kts (NOAA wind speed at Lewisetta VA  near where we were) Monday winds were 12 - 18 but against the current so was bit bouncy.   It sure was nice to have a good anchor.   Al Williams had an 11lb bruce down and we had an bear of a time getting it out of the mud the next morning.  We had to tie a line on to the chain and winch it to the max and it still would not come free.  Had to get the winched line as tight as we could and then shift the weight to the opposite side.   Anyway - another great cruise and feeling bubbly :-)   Doug Kelch M15 #310 "Seas the Day"
