The new MSOG Owners Registry is up and running. So far around 35 boats are registered with more being added every day. Sign up is free through Yahoo groups. Once you join you will be able to organize your view of the registry by whatever criteria you want, (hull #, owners name, boat name, state, etc). Gary, Apparently the LED Driver (circuit board) is what is prone to failure in a submersible scenario, epoxy encapsulated ciruits are frequently not totally waterproof due to the use of 'rigid' epoxies. Low quality LEDs and driver failure seems to be the bug. If they were invincible tailights we would all have them. I am glad you are having good results, must be quality parts. If one uses replaceable LED packed light bulb sockets you have the benefit of the low-draw LED and the convenience of easy replacement WITHIN the fixture. I am sure the LED "bulb socket hybrid" may not necessarily be as light output effective due to output or diffusion. LED bulb socket hybrids have been used for years in the auto market (after-market). If they can be replaced without replacing fixture - sounds like a winner to me! If not - I am for good old school incandescents on the trailer. Ditto, always disconnect when dunking because it also protects water shorts from road rash, pinhole nicks and dings in the trailer wire insulation. There's no roadside fix with LEDs by pulling out a spare $2 bulb and changing it. When sealed LEDs gets zapped (and they do far more often than advertising hype says) you have to buy a new light fixture. For the price of one set of LED trailer lights you can have two sets of incandescent light fixtures, spares bulbs, spare harness, spare connectors, spare fuses, spare lenses, a 6 pak of beer and never be stranded without lights. Yep, you're right, I really don't like trailer LEDs after seeing so many people with failures of them. However, I have LEDs for interior lights to save batt juice and think it's the best reason to use them. Bill **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Gary, 12V DC direct short MAY have a negative effect on the tow vehicle wiring and or 'body control module' - hopefully fuses will intervene but the 'controller'* for the trailer lights on some 200+ model vehicles are VERY expensive to replace! ($200+) yikes. Take Care, Have Fun * Toyota truck 2003 uses I am told, 3 modules: Engine management, Body controls and the one that will bite you in the rear is the ABS control -no longer is it 3M splices into wiring -this will cause ABS to 'flip-out' Check with your dealership and your favorite mechanic (technician - and well earned) GO. I have been playing around with some vids and sent three to youtube. This one is from a coupla weekends ago. I would describe this day as a 10/10. You know, one of those days you might only get one or two per season? It was hot and sunny..and windy. This one showed up early on. Basically bumbling along at 5k with the smallest balanced set I currently have. (soon to be changed) The other one that is uploaded and working shows our new (to us) tender bought last Friday and used on Saturday after 4hours of cleaning. I went to look at the thing with no description other than it was white and in excellent shape. Hi Carlos, How do you plan to gain access to that area to install the hose and fittings? Bones Cockpit Drains - On my 1979 I am considering installing a 1 1/2" through hull (vertically) at rear of cockpit floor just above the original drain (bottom of through hull would touch cockpit floor). I chose this area to install because the cockpit floor dips to center rear of cockpit right at this area. I will then install another 1 1/2" through hull at transom (above waterline) but below cockpit floor so water will drain. A hose connects these 2 through hulls and a one way Whaler check valve is installed inline between through hulls (to prevent seawater from entering cockpit). This method is similar to new M17's except they have 2 drains/through hulls, one at each end of rear cockpit area; also mounted horizontally, also utilizing one way check valves. I believe this upgrade idea will greatly increase the volume and rate of which water is removed from cockpit.
