Main Sheet setup

I'm a new M17 owner and I have a question concerning the main sheet setup. I have the factory setup directly in front of the cabin. Reciently, sailing in 25 to 30 mph winds, several times I had a difficult time releasing my main sheet. Can someone explain the advantage of having the factory setup over a conventional stern, end of boom setup. After my last sailing experiance I'm considering changing my main sheet location. M15 vibration noise

Hi M15 owners: When motoring with my M15, there is a loud vibrating noise{racket}. I've tried to locate its origin but no luck. Could it be the centerboard rattling? Thanks for any clues. Harry Elmslie

I finally finished chronicling the San Juans 07 trip on our web site. If you are interested, there is a separate page for each leg of the trip, 6 in all. Between all the crews there was over 1000 photos! Thanks goes out to Randy Graves for compiling them all for us on a CD. I tried to take pics from each day to give folks that weren't there a feel for the trip. I'm hoping that some folks,after looking at the pics with descriptions,will get even a better feel for what a fantastic trip this is and plan on making it in 2009. My New M 15

Well, we are almost from SoCal here in Lake Havasu. Actually about 3 miles east of SoCal! :-) I don't know of any organized Monty specific events, but a number of us hook up occasionally with the Socal Potters group to argue over who has the best boats. (ok, ok we don't actually argue! just get together and have a great time.) We are taking Dauntless over to join them in their Anacapa Island sail out of Channel Islands Harbor in two weeks. I believe that Norm Bundeck is also going to try to make it with his M15. We had a great time last year. Fu Shing Pan also brings his Mboat and joins the group very regularly. Every month the group sails out of another Socal venue. Here's a link to our webpage from last years trip. A dark blue M23? Sounds cool! Any place we can see some pictures? Randy and I were scheduled to sail Flathead Lake in Montana this week, but had to cancel. Just as well. That area is Forest Fire Grand Central right now. Full of smoke and under red flag warnings. So.... heading back up to Priest Lake tomorrow for a few days. Tom Smith, Randy Graves, and I will all have our M17's at the Bitter End Marina, Pend Oreille Lake this fall. If any local M boat sailors want to join us we'll have some good weekend sails as long as the weather holds. As for future San Juan trips, I'm leaning toward an every-other-year schedule. Remote Steering

To Rick Langer and Doug Kelch, Thank you both for your help. Tautline Hitch works great. Will put it to practice next week. Love the remote steering capability. It's fun standing in the cabin while sailing downwind! Rich Cottrell
