Sean, Theo was the last editor. It sort of died out to lack of interest (because of this internet list?) and absence of articles sent in by other Monty owners. I do have most of the issues. They may also be in the archives. Looks like you have "got the lead out", now you have to "get the lead in"! You're a rebuilding animal. Bones

I posted a couple of pics of M-17 #313 crossing the finish line in the 30+ knot race I was bragging about the other day. Just two pics from the comittee boat but they are kinda cool. Look for them in the M-17 albums which are lower on the page , below the 23 pages. Also, updates on Dauntless' progress for this week posted as well. Heading to Phx at 0530 in the morning for 1000lbs of lead. Gonna bite the bullet (as it were). Sean

Used to love to "storm chase" in my 17. It always took it in stride! I can't say that for the catalina 22 and the compac 23 I owned! Great story sean. Pat your buddy on the back for me. Rick

Go to Craigslist, San Francisco Bay Area. click on boats for sale. where it says price-min and max, click 800.00. The listing heading is 8' sailing dingy classic "lapstrake style" fiberglas. I think it was listed on the 2nd of Feb. It sounds like a great buy. It's worth seeing just for the neat pictures. Rich Cottrell

M-17 in 34knts!

Howard, We had a main up with a reef tucked in. For a headsail, Jason has a working jib marked "working jib" hahaha, not sure of the exact size but it was pretty small. We were pushing her as hard as we could. Couple of times we put the lee side winch in the water and shipped some water into the cockpit. He doesn't have an inclinometer but I'd say we were well past 25 degrees. When it was at its strongest (the wind) we were beating back to the line. The thing that was giving us the biggest challenge was keeping boatspeed up while crashing into the waves. Finaly we decided it would be better to foot off a little and build speed rather than point as high as we could. Seemed to work a lot better. And yes, the 6.9 was hit sometime during one of our reaches with the swell behind. We were using a handheld GPS for speed so I wasn't looking at it like I would a fixed mount knotmeter. The 6.9 was our max speed. All in all it was really a fun sail!!
