How taught should the rigging be on a M15?

In fine tuning my M15's rigging, should the rigging be loose or taught? When loose, mast can wiggle a little when the rigging wire(s) are shaken but the boat does not respond. Taught does not allow the mast to shake, but the boat shakes. Norm M15 #172

Hi Tom, No, I didn't have a welder fill the old holes. That would have been a nice touch, but since it is not visible from deck level, the extra holes don't bother me, and I'll be darned if I do that just for the seagulls! Connie

HI Sean, I think hull #83 is the latest M23 I have ever heard of. Is the hull white? As I mentioned, I have #75, it is Dick Lane's former boat, and I purchased her from Larry in Nevada. It was on Lake Mead. I hauled her home to Minnesota over the rockies. That was 4 years ago now, time sure moves fast. Be sure to tell us more about your boat when you finally take possession. "almost" a new 23 owner

Bones, Thanks for the info on the 23's. Yes good things come to those who wait but the anticipation is a killer!! We have sealed the deal on our new (old) 23 however part of the deal is that the current owners are going to take one last cruise in Oct/ early Nov before giving her up. So we can pick her up in Florida by 11/15, sooner if they get back sooner. Meanwhile, we have a new trailer being built by Pacific trailers in Chino that we will take back with us to pick her up. I just noticed today that another hurricane is taking aim at Fla......guess we'll just have to bite our fingernails 'till we get her out of there! She survived a direct hit by the big one last year (Charlie I think it was). Rode it out at the dock with no damage. Anyways, as soon as we get the word, we will saddle up and head east, pick her up in Fla and bringher home to Lake Havasu, AZ. We'll do some local sailing here this year over the winter with the plan being taking her to the coast during the summer (San Diego and Catalina) when its too stinkin hot here and 75 beautiful degrees there. Once we get her home I'll post some pics and info on the web. Love to get together with some other 23's. I know that there are 2 in Phoenix. Sean

Years ago I looked after a boat that a friend had in Buzzards Point Marine on the Anacostia, near the Coast Guard HQ. Not the best of areas -- he once (accidentally) drove through a gun battle on Half Street on the way to the boat. When he was in town he worked close enough that he would take his lunch to the boat. Potomac Sailmakers

In May of '99 I ordered a storm jib from Potomac Sails in Alexandria, Va, based on the recommendation of one of our participants (Doug Kelch?). I was pleased with the results.
