Leading the jib halyard to the cockpit is pretty handy. Mine turns through a block at the base of the mast, then to a cheek block, then to a clam cleat next to the jib sheet cleat. In combinatin with a downhaul, I have good control over the sail. Leading the main would be more troublesome as my main uses a boltrope rather than hanks and likes to be fed up and down. doug: Welcome to the list of happy M-15 owners. As a new member myself, I know that there are always questions. No one wants to re-invent the wheel. Feel free to ask any of us when you have a question or you can search the MSOG site by specific items (say anchors). I love my M-15, It's sea-worthy, roomy and easy to trail and launch. I can set up in 15 or 20 minutes. There are several tricks most of us use: We use the jib halyard to hold the mast up while we go forward to connect the fore stay. Most of us keep the main rolled around the boom to simplify the set-up. Let us know what you named her. I tried to get new ones before departing Florida for Connecticut, but the shop didn't have any of the right size, and, as they told me, all trailer tires in Florida have sidewall cracks.............. However, my first job, when I got home with the M15, was to get new rims and new tires. >From the discussions on the M-List, the answer was go with radials - for the reasons you mentioned. I have since related this to the severe vibration caused by the bias ply tires I had on my trailer. Since I moved to radials, the ride has been completely smoothed out. When I first noticed the vibration, I thought the wheels on the truck were out of alignment and took it in and had them balanced. First time I towed the trailer after that, I thought I had a flat tire it was so bad. Once I changed out the tires on the trailer, it was like magic. No longer without a boat

When I subscribed to this list a few months ago, I wondered whether one of the M-boats might be the boat for me. Thanks to your many encouraging responses, and thanks to local M-boat sailors Ken and Murray who invited me to look their boats over, I was convinced. In December, I purchased 1986 M-15 #385 which is now snuggled neatly in my garage awaiting a rainless windy day. It was a tough choice, but in the end, my decision to go with the little boat was based on being able to store it at my house and in my garage where it begs me to go sailing every day, rather than in storage under a tarp a mile from home. For me, the easier it is to go sailing, the more sailing I'll do and the more places I can do it. So thanks again to all of you for your help and encouragement. See you on the water... I just found something out today that you guys might not have known either. West Marine will meet their competitors prices. Anything they carry, if you can find it in another catalog or on-line at a better price, they'll give you that price! (As long as it's not below their cost.)
