Gilbert, I must say, I enjoyed your description of your sail. So much reminded me of some of my experiences last summer as I first launched my !5 and took a few inauspicious sails. Every trip out has been a new learning experience. Can't wait til it gets warm here and I can have a few more of them. I know I will learn something new each time! Time for a cool change! Hi Mike, That is what I am using as a back-up system in my M15. My primary anchor is a small Bruce with chain and rode, because it is good on so many different bottoms. The Fortress is great in sand or any bottom where it can dig in, but if you have heavy weed on the bottom, the Fortree won't penetrate the weed to get to the bottom. That's where you need the Bruce. Anchoring is an art, and you need various "anchoring tools" to match the anchoring requirements in the area where you sail. Connie M15 #400

I'm beginning to purchase gear to fit out my new M-17. I've reviewed the anchoring info on the MSOG website. I'm considering the Fortress FX-7 (4lb), 6ft of 3/16" chain and 150ft of 3/8" nylon rode for my primary system.I'd appreciate opinions on this set up and any other recommendations. Thanks, Mike

I'd opt for a 7-8 lb anchor with the 12' of chain recommended in the last post. A second anchor of 4 lbs would be a backup system (lunch hook). I kept 3 anchors/rodes/chains onboard.

Replying to my own post, let me make one other suggestion that can make it easier to manage the list mail. Every post from the list contains M_Boats in the subject. I created a mail rule that puts M_Boats mail into a separate folder, where I review it as needed. Hope that's helpful.

Anybody have guidance/opinion regarding location of track for a small spinnaker car for the M15? Presently there's a fixed whisker pole ring on the mast, but it's weak and I thought I might as well spring for the ability to adjust the pole height as long as I'm going to replace it.
