I carry an older whitewater rescue throw bag on my boat and thought I'd pass the idea on to the list. The link below takes you to a product page for Northwest River Supply, an outfit that markets stuff to whitewater paddlers and rafters. I won't go into how you use it unless asked, but it works great for a quick MOB situation (if you're fast, you could just release all your sheets and toss the bag instead of sailing back), and between boats and boat to dock. Hi Howard... I came close to buying a M-23 three times, but all were on the west coats (I live near Atlanta, Ga) One was a light blue boat from a guy named Nick, IIRC. Never heard about it before, but he sent me a videotape of it. Perhaps my Nissan Pathfinder would have towed it. depth sounder

Hummingbird makes some fairly cheap fish finders...some may be portable, IIRC. Do you want a depth finder for spot checks, or continuous use?? I've seen a handheld unit at W-Marine about the size of a C-cell flashlight that I tested a few years ago. Can't remember the name, but it did seem to work. Harvey/Ga M-17 Stargazer #294

I switched over to 12" Goodyear Tiempo car radials about 7 years and many thousands of miles ago on my otherwise stock TrailRite trailer. The ride/cushioning effect of the radials was a dramatic improvement. While it is true that radials designed for trailer use tend to have reinforced sidewalls, the M15 is light enough that this should not be a concern. MC Beautifully expressed. Small boats = small problems: big boats = big problems (expensive + needs manpower): you are no longer in control of your own destiny. Small is beautiful - even if it doesn't offer standing headroom and sleeps 12! Connie

Interesting point Connie. When I bought new tires at Wal-Mart, they said the small wheels would not fit on the balancer. For unbalanced wheels I have not noticed any vibration at all. Has anyone else had a problem having trailer tires balanced? Or having Wal-Mart refuse money? steve Steve R. trailer tires

Maybe some of you on the list remember the problem I had last summer with my centerboard pin vibrating almost out. I have since related this to the severe vibration caused by the bias ply tires I had on my trailer. Since I moved to radials, the ride has been completely smoothed out. When I first noticed the vibration, I thought the wheels on the truck were out of alignment and took it in and had them balanced. First time I towed the trailer after that, I thought I had a flat tire it was so bad. Once I changed out the tires on the trailer, it was like magic. If I ever buy another trailer, it will have radials from the beginning. Time for a cool change! Sandra(Seawitch #617)
