Ive got a few of his cds (even though some of them are really dreadfull) and the Hated film. My opinion is this, Rock N Roll is alive and kicking. For, anyone who does not know, GG used to eat his shit on stage and beat the audience and smear his own shit on them. Even though this is the furthest Rock N Roll has ever gone in terms of shock and it will probably never be taken any further, everything GG did is made null and void because he failed to kill himself on stage. Not to say that to prove a point you have to commit suicide, but he said it and not anyone else. The man was a vile human being, he beat women as well as all the other stuff. So therefore Rock N Roll was not made. GG is a very little known punk rock act but if he had commited suicide he would be the one to beat. For all of the extremeties he lived in his life, the man died like a typical rock star.

Thomas, by using the cancer analogy (which i take to be a negative comment) are you suggesting that you would prefer the list to be barely registering a pulse. Personally as long as its labelled as OT i would rather see some life in the list than wondering if there is any point in staying on. Its very enjoyable reading all these arguments , ahem , sorry I mean discussions, but you guys are getting in a bit of a rut now , your just make the same point in different ways. Please come up with something new, or start a new "discussion" ;) p.s. does anyone think they will ever change the others mind by a few posts on a mailing list? perhaps you could "discuss" that. This isn't even a matter of losing a debate, the whole point I got involved is because I think you were misunderstanding things. This discussion was about two, well three things really: - Dan's use of the word TAKE which you seemed to only take literally instead of figuratively - Your comment that it's the artist's job to "speak out" when really art is about self expression - Your criticism of Dan, I think, because he said he chooses to be entertained by an artist such as a musical one. You said something like how patetic it was for him to need to be entertained by someone. I feel all these points have been clarified, and I think you understood them all as well, but now you're choosing to make what I used as a closing punchline (telling Babs to shut the hell up) as showing how closed minded I am. You are just insistant on carrying this on and refusing to let it drop. At every crossroads you need to make a decision on which way to go. To listen to you a person would never choose left or right because he's spending too much time listening to the pro and con arguements in the off chance someone might say something new. So really, by your insistant on carrying on this discussion into a whole 'noth er neighborhood, and refusing to concede any point, who's the one being closed minded here? -paul

It's not being close minded or ignorant at all. For example, when I grab a Coke, I want to drink a Coke. I don't want to open it up and find someone has switched it with Sprite, Apple Juice, or Vodka. Even though I like to drink all those things, at that very moment I want what I CHOOSE to drink. Forcing your views down someone else's throat just because you have a captive audience is BS. It's a bait and switch. You are also just assuming no one is as "well informed" as you are. Ignorance is the willful neglect to seek knowledge. I choose to seek out news and political commentary on my own time (not when I'm on the KLF list). If I didn't then I would be ignorant. Some people will never do this and want to remain ignorant. That's just the way it is. High-jacking this list and assuming that we are ignorant and/or eager to read SPAM is naïve, ideological, and insulting.
