Question about handshaking.

I would like to know if someone here have been worked on handshaking delay optimization over quad-modem (Digital/Analog) or with the modems that come in the HiperDSP. I would like to know if there is a way to decrease the delay time during handshaking. I only need to make conections up to 19.2K. Any ideas will be welcome. Thanks a lot in advance for the help. FYI - I've had the HiperARC working with a V.34 Quad Digital/Analog with an Analog line into the back side of it. I see a few customers with crappy phone lines, crappy modems, or both that have disconnects (lost carriers). One time I did have the majority of my customers with disconnect problems and this was due to line coding being set wrong. My CT1's were originally set up with AMI line coding. I had put in an order to change to B8ZS. [I have very little understanding of telco things, but...] Apparently, to change that, the telco's switch has to be reprogrammed, something called a Soneplex has to be reprogrammed, an HDSL box had to be changed, and of course my equip had to be changed. The local telco tech saw the order and reprogrammed the Soneplex to b8zs while everything else was set for AMI. People could still get in, but most people were dropping off in less than an hour. Soon as I found it, he switched it back, everything worked fine. I would suspect line coding (or some other trunk setting) if you're seeing really bad disconnects. It seems that the most of the trunk settings make minor differences in quality, but only a couple actually cause it to work or not work when set wrong. Disconnect Issues

I have been experiencing frequent disconnects on a majority of my Total Control boxes. I am running Code 2.1.85 in a majority of my cities that are having issues. I upgraded one city to 3.5.12 and things just got worse. I read the archive and it mentioned 3.5.105 was working well. I can only download 3.5.100 from source, is it just as good? Furthermore is there any software that I can run to monitor the DSP modems to see what the deal is for disconnects or does anyone have pointers that I can check? For the arc there is a configuration option - It is seen when you reboot the arc and you will see for a few seconds a menu that will allow you to specify the a tftp server, code name and other good details. Also you can do this with configuration on the arc - which gives you option to load the code from a tftp server everytime when a reboot occurs or just once (you have options). The command is "set bootrom ip interface eth:1 address .........." This will give you options to configure on how and when to load the code when you reboot the arc. Also the ARC has what is called as a bulk file - you can save the bulkfile and tftp the file to a safe location and then use the bulkfile to reconfigure the arc.
