Info on upgrading to v.92 pls

Maybe someone on the list can help me out. I'm researching on what needs to be upgraded to be v.92. Currently I'm at TCS ver 4.2 on our TC 1000. I've spent some time on the Commworks site but was not successful. The cards that are in chassis are 14 DSP's that are at 2.1.85, 2 Hiper Arcs one is a 128M and the other is a 64M both at 5.0.9, lastly the NMC is at 7.1.8. If someone has the link or the info on what needs to be upgraded please send me an email. Thanks, -Brent

how to receive/monitor "traps" for d channels out of service...

ok i have been using tcm and total control hardware since like the first month that they rolled out x2 but i have never used any of the trapping options. i have had an occasional (once a week or less) problem where 1 or 2 d channels on different cards will be out of service for no apparent reason. i found the place where you can set a trap for that and have it sent to an ip of a monitoring station. but what software would i run to receive these traps? what would ultimately work best would be something where it sends the message about what channel is out of service and then i could have it automatically forward it to my pager via email. is this simple and i'm just missing it? matthew

I saw a previous post on the list about the parameters needing changed to enable V.92 and the various components of it. One of them was under 'Call Control Options' : Response to +++ = IgnoreEscCode In a normal chassis config it is set to 'goOnHook' but in the instructions for enabling V.92 that someone posted, it was set to 'IgnoreEscCode' - What exactly is this doing, and is it necessary? I will buy a service contract to do this. I have not had to upgrade any of the boxes for customers because they said they already had service contracts and or they would do it themselves. 3Com Dial-Up Modems

I see you guys talking about dial-up modems in the latest thread. Don't know if anyone can use these, but here goes. I have ~ 30 of the Courier V.everythings 56K V.90 version unused in the box (still shrinkwrapped). In my experience dealing with dial-up equipment over the last 15 years, these are the best modems I have run across. problem connecting

I have a customer who's computer will connect with no problems in town. (small town - 6500 population - Trumann, AR) Connect speed of 40.something. That same computer when he tries to connect at his house (about 5 miles out of town) will not connect. He has managed to connect a couple of times, but now it will not verify his login at all. His modem is a lucent win modem. It will connect but it will not verify his username and password. And it takes an extremely long time to try to verify his username and password before it fails. The message is usually that the remote computer did not respond. I have tried lowering the baud, but this did not work either. I told him to call the phone company (CenturyTel), which he did. They say that the lines are ok and it must be my equipment. I have taken my laptop out to his house and can connect every time but only at a speed of 20.something. From my house in town my laptop will connect at 48.8. I do not here any static on his line thru the phone, but I do here a small amount of hum. I called my buddy that works for the local phone company and he said that the lines in that area are run to local box and connect back to the co via a t1. He also said they have run a loop test at the customers house and that checks out. 3 out of 4 customers I have in that same area have had the same problems. I do not know what speed the one customer connects at, but he has never called to complain about anything. Could there be something not set right with my chassis? Anyone else had a problem like this? Bad Phone Line - plain and simple - and maybe the wrong modem to be using on a bad line. When the phone company says they serve that area with a "t1", is that REALLY what they're doing, or are they running a 4-to-1 Multiplexer on a single pair? If that's the case, then no V.90 for sure. I've had a cust in a rural area, all their neighbors get 26400, on his Lucent he'd connect at 44K, but got almost no throughput. Attempts to force a lower baud rate didn't help. Only solution was to replace his modem with a Conexant that only got a 26400 from the start and everything worked peachy. Just my opinion. TC ip pools

Hi, I've got 4 fully loaded TCs I need to setup and I'm questioning what is the best way to set the IP pools. If I evenly split the DSP cards so I have 7 DSPs assigned to each ARC card I'll need 161 (23 x 7) addresses on each ARC. I've looked at my subnet tables and can't find anything that fits nicely. I have enough IP addresses available, I'm not sure what is the best way to split the addresses onto the TCs. Does anyone have a suggestion? Bill Dunn
