Hey Michelle, I am looking into clubs that would be interested in hosting a Hall of Fame tribute show. STUNG, along with local all-girl AC/DC tribute AC/DShe are looking to host a party somewhere in Manhattan that wekeend. If anyone has any leads to clubs that may be interested, please have them contact me. If there were a party in NYC that weekend, would anyone come? Please respond on the board so we can all guage interest and the possibility of this really happening. How cool would it be if any of thems showed up to the party! That's funny, because my husband also refers to him as "Stink". Usually when I am asked what music I like and I say Sting, the reaction I usually get is, "Oh, he was good with the Police, but I don't like his solo stuff." Or I get this blank, half bewildered stare like I had just said I liked Tom Jones or Engelbert Humperdink. It does get irritating sometimes, but these people just don't know what they're missing! Yeah baby, I'm going to see Stewart play with the Doors. I just got a good ticket on eBay. I was waiting patiently for something to come up, but was getting a little nervous. They play in LA in 3 weeks. Very excited. Seems like all I do is drive to LA lately.... Maggie

Hey there, Now that we're getting closer to the big day, is the "fan celebration" in NY happening? It's spring break in Texas and it looks like I'll be able to swing it with or without a ticket to the event. At this point, is anyone in charge of organizing an outing the night before or that day? Do we have confirmation yet that the boys are playing? How's Stew's arm? Full of questions, aren't I??? Thanks! Michelle

Police SACD/CD Reissue News

First of all the bad news - the CD issues/SACD issues are delayed until early March. Good news: On the SACD issues of all the albums except "Every Breath You Take: The Classics" it will be stereo only. EBYT: The Classics will not only be SACD Stereo but will also have a 5.1 Multichannel version on the disc as well PLUS will be a hybrid SACD/CD as well. I am assuming at this point that this new issue will be simular to the DTS CD track wise which means no Don't Stand 86 or Message In A Bottle (Classic Rock Mix) on the disc (tho I wouldn't mind for the former to be given a 5.1 mix.. the latter in my book had very little difference compared to the original mix to justify being given a 5.1 mix). I will be buying at least the new EBYT: Classics SACD/CD disc to compare with the DTS and mid-90s CD issue as far as sound quality and such the day it comes out for everyone. I am holding off on the rest of the catalogue for right now since its possible down the road that we might see yet another reissue on SACD with 5.1 mixes on them much like Meat Loaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" has been done (first SACD issue being stereo only then just got reissued with both stereo and 5.1 multichannel). following story taken from billboard.com. continuing his quest to try to outrun the police legacy, i sure hope sting will be able to break away to play at the HOF ceremony. i sure this album will be a great topic of conversation that night... Sting is hard at work on his next A&M/Interscope studio album at his studio in Tuscany, Italy. According to the artist's official Web site, a steady stream of unnamed guest artists have participated in the sessions. The as-yet-untitled set "remains on track for a likely release next autumn," the site says. The artist's last studio album, "Brand New Day," peaked in September 2000 at No. 9 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 3.5 million copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. It was followed up by the concert release "... All This Time," recorded in Tuscany. Sting's rendition of "Fragile" from the latter album was nominated yesterday (Jan. 7) for a best male pop vocal performance Grammy.
