Hello All! A friend of mine has been contacted by a gentleman known as Pete Bennett. This guy claims to be in with all the big stars and he even had Sting get on the phone with her for a few seconds. I can't say that I remember hearing about this guy before. Anyone else ran into Pete Bennett? Is he really someone who flies to the Super Bowl with Sting or is this a con? Anyone got a clue? Thanks! Apparently she started out getting backstage and into concerts free by giving the roadies/the band free massages, then worked her way up to getting paid for it and going on the road with the Stones. At one point she mentioned the woman she's massaged with the perfect body (forgot who) and then she mentioned the male rocker with the best body ... no news to any of us, but it was Mr. Sting! Thought I'd mention it for those who keep tabs on all things Sting. Michelle

Maggie, I agree -- Shania Twain definitely WAS lip-synching. At one point she went into the audience and people were shaking her hand. She was laughing (not moving her mouth), and yet her vocals continued. Oh, and the fact that her performance sounds exactly like the single is kind of a tip-off too. Sting and No Doubt were NOT lip-synching. It's unfortunate that Gwen's vocals weren't top-notch, but the performance was still great - the best half time performance along with last year's U2 IMO. At a dance-heavy concert where the lead singer does exhausting choreography, we might hear a tape of the lead vocal track. At an event like the Super Bowl, where sound engineers have five minutes (rather than the usual six or eight hours) to set up, bands are more likely to rely on tape. During No Doubt and Sting's halftime sets, we were also hearing live vocals and canned instrumentals. Last year, when U2 played, we heard both Bono's voice and the Edge's guitar live, though the rhythm section was prerecorded. Maggie

Did the the 2 middle videos work out for anyone? Hi "No Doubt" fans: please forgive me. I just watched the video download from the Superbowl. I can just judge from that video. But it seemed to me that Gwen Stefani couldn't hit a note even if she knew where it was... I often criticise Sting's solo escapades, but he gave me goose bumps this time. Dietmar

Hall OF Fame Induction Folklore

i was trading e-mails with my amigo markie today, when something occurred to me. on the heels on what went down at the super bowl, let's hope that wasn't a warm up of things to come. i refer to a piece of R&R HOF induction ceremony folklore from 1994. that year, the band was inducted. eric clapton, the biggest fan they ever had, did their induction speech. when it came time to perform, clapton stayed on stage and performed with the band. he did it at the request of his friend/band-head hancho robbie robertson, who is loathed by the rest of the group, still to this day. when they finished, clapton and robertson exited quicker than you could say "music from big pink", leaving levon helm and the rest flat-footed on stage. will this happen this year? will sting invite gwenie to remain on stage and duet some more? stay tuned (and don't be surprised!!!!) rich __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
