I'm the only fu***t cu**t round here! Yesterday, due to the fact the wife did accidentally run over the cat and the party that followed my sucess at failing the test (& being hired on by coporate america) -I rather overdid it. Both Ritch and I would like to apoplogise for any distress our posts have caused in the past. This is a damn fine group of people and contrary to yesterdays statement, thrash is in fact all right, (in fact is he is a great host), through my own stupidity and his help I did Learn and Evolve. Anyway, nuf said, sorry again. Think I will get back to the music, Love & Peace, William Ritchie Brooks

<< polished turds like Cydonia >> it's so shiny, i can see my own reflection! but seriously, why don't you tell us what you DO like, rather than what you don't. what awesome new music have you, or other listies, heard lately? i'll start: "You Forget It In People" by Broken Social Scene -- this is a sort of Canadian Super-group, and they can write a damned catchy song. i really like this album.... not surrpising really, seeing as the core of the band are some guys who are also in Do Make Say Think, who i adore. speaking of which: anybody heard the new DMST album yet? other new stuff i am listening to: "Rounds" by Four Tet. i know that people rant about how good this is, but i just don't hear it. i mean, it's okay, but not earth-shattering. he isn't doing anything on this album that he, or someone else (Notwist, Fridge - and yes i know he is also in the band too, Aphex to a degree) have done before. I dunno -- the way people were going on about this i expected it to be widely experimental. it's not, and i admit to being slightly disappointed... "Passages Through" by Landing. this band, on the other hand, keeps getting better and better. they started off doing long (25 minutes or so on average) psychedelic freakouts. on this album, they still do that to a degree, but they also make some catchy pop songs. this is really cool -- and i bet that some listies would enjoy it.... okay, that's all i got. next! This guy I work with has been playing the death out of the newest CD by these guys called Kammerflimmer Kollective, (or something to that effect), pretty nice stuff. A bit like Mum, but more jazz oriented than rock. Mostly mellow, somewhat electronic. . . a bet some of you listees would dig it. It's on Temporary Residence which is a pretty cool label, I've been meaning to check out Icarus which is also on the same label, and I guess it doesn't hurt that I kind of know the guy who runs it and he's a really nice dude. I'll second the praise for Broken Social Scene, that's a damn fine album. Like all that Godspeed stuff, but not as boring and more aggressive. Manitoba is good shit too, y'all should check out his latest album "Up in Flames". Birthday

This Saturday will be my 38th birthday. I'll be risking my life climbing cliffs in the Red River Gorge and drinking lots of beer and whiskey around a campfire while playing songs until I puke or break a string or something. Not at the same time, though. Drunken rock climbing is NOT reccommended for anyone but Thrash. On the Orb front has anyone seen any of these non Japanese mixes of B&T stuff? I listened to it again recently and I still came away thinking some of it was really excellent but overall it was really mediocre. I like PARTS of the songs a lot but I don't completely like any of the songs. So I'm hoping these were base mixes of the material that will eventually be released to us in the house of the rising sun... oh, wait... uh... when was that? 2005?
