Orb's weakest release ever. Even after many, many listens. Not a grower (and btw, even a "grower" has something that somehow compels you to listen again... B&T... nah, just indifference.) Not a complete waste: Opening track is fun, catchy, vibrant. Someone put their finger on it when they compared it to Cotton-Eye Joe (agreed, but not a similar crime against humanity) A light track that treads no new ground, but i rewound it right away when it was the only track available to hear. Then the album takes a nose-dive with the stereotypical Orb, done-in-sleep-mode Land of Green Ginger. Highlights: Gee Strings, nice funky tech-house, but it doesn't develop AT ALL. It's just stuck in a promising beginning. Abstractions is just ok. L.U.C.A: a nice, funky "broken"-ish beat propels this one. The Towers track: god, how "standard" can you get? not worth the exercise in dub. Treading no new ground, I would have at least accepted the Orb revisiting past glories in the hope of something remotely exciting. Overall, dull as dishwater and no longer worth my time. Oh well. Can't say the writing wasn't on the wall. The whole BadOrb fiasco pointed towards this. Makes you nostalgic even for Cydonia! That one had some many great moments in comparison. Bah. 5.1 Thrash, trash, bicycles and pedopheliacs

I believe Thrash mentioned recently that FFWD was, indeed, mixed in 5.1. That is where there are five main speakers and a subwoofer. If the music on your cd was mixed using this a Dolby surround receiver should be able to decode it. At this point I run out of useful information other than the FFWD SOUNDS 3D even on two speakers. I like when the whooshy sound buzzes 'round me 'ead. Does anyone know if B&T is mixed in 5.1 or not? I highly recommend getting Thrash's new thingy. It's quite good. I'm going to buy a copy just in case they can't hold out against the legion of lawyers that are lining up. The amount of "copyright" laws they've violated are just staggering. I love you guys. That Negativeland U2 single is worth a mint now. I hope you guys win but as we all should know by now, the ultrawealthy always win so you're fucked. Good luck! Another Bike's and Trikes review

I'm reserving final judgement until I've got a copy of the CD and a loud sound-system, but by-and-large I'm finding this album to be a wasteland. There are a few highlights, Dilmun and Abstractions I enjoyed particularly. Gee Strings would be nice if it evolved - a nice base missing a necessary magic ingredient or something. The rest I found sadly tired and forgettable. Oh, except that first track, which is just terrible. It's been echoing in my head for two days now, I can't seem to shake it. Kinda making me sick. Last time this happened was with that damn "life after love" track by Cher - just because it's catchy, doesn't mean it's not crap. Sounds like nothing different from the large volume of unoriginal "electronica" being produced today. Worse, in some places, due to a leaning toward boring, unoriginal house.
