I stand corrected in my previous statements that no decent live orb recordings exist. This is possibly the coolest orb material I've heard yet. Dope versions of orbus terrarum material. found a source for the fluffy interview - anyone care to give this guy access so he can up it to an ftp thingy! chap called mr.james not on the list - so thought best to ask first to see if i can send him a port number and pass word ect.. read below if interested! tell me what files you want!! It's by an artist called Rickie Lee Jones and it's on a special US only promo edition of the album "Flying Cowboys". It's a bonus CD called "A Conversation with Rickie Lee Jones" and it's just her being interviewed for half an hour. I've mp3'd the full CD and it's 44mb. I've also done the first 7 minutes which gets a bunch of stuff including the the "What were the skies like..." part and also another orb sample "I don't know if I was high or if..." that's 10mb @192kbps or 6.5mb @128kbps. I bagged it up off eBay for a tenner. I've also got the original main riff that they've sampled. It's a classical guitar piece by Steve Reich called "Electronic Counterpoint" on an album called "Different Trains/Electronic Counterpoint" the full track's 13mb but the Orb's samples come from the second part of the track which is more up tempo. That weighs in at 6.5mb too. Basically I'm a DJ and I finally decided that I'm gonna remix my favourite tune of all time Little Fluffy Clouds... So the hunt began for the original samples... First thing I found was your thread and it pointed me in the right direction. Thought it would only be fair to return the favour if you were still looking for it... If you gimme the FTP address I'll up it for you. Doesn't matter about size it won't take long. Just which version you want... Have a good one, Mr.James

Check out what Phish is doing at phish.com, you can purchase any of the shows from their recent tour for $9.95 (in mp3, $12.95 for shn). While that may seem a bit steep at least their shows are generally 3 hours and fill three discs, and they also have printable CD cover art for no extra charge. I'm sure they are making a killing as we all know that downloading is compeletly addictive, I wouldn't be surprised if other bands start doing this as well. Of course you can still download inferior audience recordings of their shows on various peer to peer networks. I think the free/donation route is putting a little too much trust in people. Personally I would like the option to download individual tracks and the entire album at a discounted per track rate. In other words if there were 14 new tracks available on a "virtual album" $1 is reasonable if I only want a single track or two but I don't think I would pay $14 for the 14 tracks when I am doing the extra work of downloading & burning versus purchasing the outdated way. Also, downloadable artwork for slightly better looking homemade cd's a definite plus. Hi all, So I saw Thomas Fehlman last night at the Empty Bottle. He performed for a little over an hour with his powerbook and maybe a chaos pad attached. He did a non-stop set mixing from track to track, and was very dancey tunes. I highly reccomend checking it out if you like the Orb... No visuals, but Fehlman does dance quite a bit, and interacts with the crowd. He even moves like LX! He did perform a new Orb song in his set, along with Cool Harbour, plus some older Fehlman tracks too. Spoke with the man after his set, and he told me this was his first time in Chicago, and he enjoyed it very much. He also told me that the new Orb album has been pushed back to June 11th in Japan. I shook his hand and thanked him for performing here and wished him safe travels. As for Jen Jelnik, I thought he looked just like Mike Meyer's "Dieter" from Sprockets... He performed amost an hours worth of Cologne-esque tracks, Oval/Microstoria comes to mind. I thought it was quite interesting at times and tedious at others. Before that was a duo of Greg Davis and Steven Hess, One on a pc, the other on drums. THe drums were mic'ed through the powerbook and had all sorts of treatments done to the sounds. Interesting at first, but it went from avant-garde jazz like drumming to just making soft noises with no noticeable rhythmn, and made for difficult watching after a while.
