Jerry, I do own and love our M15. My dad also customized a M10 when my brother and I were really young and the whole family used to sail in that all the time. It was great. We had the 17 too like you said and all four of us would camp out in it. It sort of became the official start boat for a lot of the Prindle Cat races. I was just at Joes Crab Shack in San Diego and they have a large painting of omy brother and I on the bow of our M17 at the start of some race. Someone must have had a photo to do that. I wish I could buy it. Although I was raised on boats I didn't really take to sailing as a teen and hadn't done much until I got married. Now I have two kids and I love sailing again and hope to give my kids the same excitement and learning experiences I had gotten from sailing and being on and around the sea. What's really cool is that the same boats appeal to me as they did to my dad. Good design and ideas last. I never met you Jerry but my dad has always said great things about you. Hope he doesn't talk your ear off after months of self induced isolation. Dumb M15 Number Question

I bought my Montgomery 15 about a year and a half ago. On its transom is MMP153690686, which I think means it is a Montgomery 15, serial 369, built in June 1986. It came with red, white, and blue sails with the number 368 on them. When I managed to rip the old main about a year ago I bought new sails. When I did I couldn't figure out what numbers were right so didn't get any numbers on the new main. If I had, which should it have been, 369 (the serial number) or 368 (the old sail number)? Thanks in advance, because whenever I start thinking about this it bothers me! David Grah Bishop California

John, Yes I have one. For me it was a better solution than a topping lift. Jerry has recommended using a boom vang. If you have a vang then it is simple to add the Boomkicker. I shortened the fiberglass rods maybe two inches with a hacksaw. This is discussed in the instructions. On the tension line I use a Clam Cleat #253 Trapeze and Vang Cleat. This is simpler than tying a knot of the exact length. I have experimented with varying the tension to lift the boom for catching light air. It seems to help. I keep a screwdriver handy to loosen the bottom fitting that slides in the mast groove. I have to slide it up to allow stepping or unstepping the mast. I then bungy the Boomkicker to the mast for trailering. steve Steve R. Thanks Bones....Hope you get sailing soon! Our local season is winding down...BUT the good news is we have some new locals interested in sailing! I plan to S-l-o-w-l-y take over the lake with pocket cruisers!! (very s-l-o-w-l-y-!).. lol :-)

Geoff Prindle , I bought one of his boats a P 16 (sail #6300, so they were moving boats back then) that Geoff wanted to build when he worked at Hobie Cat but he found Stan and the boys at Surf Glass that built it for him, wonderful design from a pretty innovative guy. I'd say the same thing about Mr. Hess today. If Bob Eeg ever decided to market the 23 footer he's have a long wait list. Thanks to all for your good wishes. I know Montgomery's are scarce here out east and my New to me 15 will see plenty of the Upper Chesapeake Bay. I will now try and hook up with the Precision Rendezvous folks this summer out of Rock Hall, MD. Please if anybody sails out of Sandy Point, Harrington Harbor or Baltimore please give me a call and lets connect. I am just outside Washington DC off 495. Hey maybe we can re-organize a Montgomery event on the Bay down the road. Happy to help and start something up. Outhaul

Montypals: Anybody got a picture of their M15 outhaul setup? My boat does not have one at the moment. I turned the gooseneck over to be in the correct setup, and have untied the clew from the aft boom. I plan to put a small block there and run some line to a clam cleat, or something like that. I have to be careful not to get it in the way of the cheek block on the starboard aft side that is there for the reefing. Thoughts? Daniel
