Hi Skip, Thanx for the compliment. I'll let her know. No sister, sorry. But I will admit that I am a lucky man to have her. Actually, it's worse than you think. We have a Moore 24 that we've been sailing in local lakes for the past 27 years . We have a Monty 15 that we recently bought so we could get to know the marque better. Our new Monty 23 has yet to be delivered, but that's another story (an issue for which the moderators have asked that I do not discuss on this board. A request I will honor. You're welcome to email me). Jerry get's the prototype of the Sage 17. We'll get the first production boat, which we'll be showing at boat shows. Thanx much for the encouragement. I'm sure the design will be eggzactly" what we're seeking. We'll be meeting with Jerry over the weekend. Sorting out deck issues, ports, etc. So far Jerry, Gail and I seem to be on the same page. We opted to go with a backstay. A little longer to rig, but far more strength and control over the shape off the main and better for the spinnaker option. We looked into a cast bronze centerboards, but they were very expensive, we'll more than likely go with a cast lead ballast in a fiberglass centerboard. Would be interesting to know what the hull # is. Ours was built in 1992 and is hull # 495. At Havasu, I asked Jerry how many of the fixed keels like ours he built and if I remember correctly he said five or six. Dorothy Eisen M-17 Motu iti fixed keel

Ballast on M-15

I remember reading that the 15 was light in the bow with people in the cockpit, so for awhile I had a spare 2.5 engine in the forward part of the V-birth. It was alright but it tended to bring the bow down too much. I recently managed to put it under the starboard cockpit bench and it makes a pretty good counter to the 2.5 that is mounted on the port transom. I keep my anchor forward now and it seems to be a pretty good balance. The spare engine is a 2 cycle and it has no fuel in it so ther is no danger of gas leaking.

Self launch braquet...

I am building one out of teak, but there are commercial ones available in stainless. The teak one should be realy nice when it's done, but it took alot of hard knox engineering to build it. If it works I'll post some photos, if not I think I'll just walk the plank.
