Hey Bones, Yeah, I have the system with the winch in the cockpit locker. Yeas, you can carefully lower the board after removing the stop pin...the problem is ...I have to get the boat off the trailer to do it as the trailer frame is not going to allow the board to extend far enough..So I either have to float it or hoist it. S

M23 centerboard repair

Hi Sean..John M here. I do in fact have an access port in the side of my centerboard trunk (very observant Jim). When I bought my boat the cable was broken and the centerboard was in the down position at the boat yard. My first project on DreamTime (should have named her nightmare) was to replace the cable which I accomplished pretty easily through my little inspection port. We were able to get the big swedge tool in there and crimp onto the existing pendent. Let me know if you want any pictures.

Getaway Camper Van

Hey Doug, (or whoever else is interested) Did you find your camper van tow vehicle? I just found an ad for this one up here in the Spokane area. Looks like a good deal, and it even has a diesel. Sorry to hear about the centerboard mishap. I read somewhere Sean said he had some trouble at the ramp but missed what happened. Note to Sean, if I remember correctly John Muller's boat had some sort of access port so he could see inside the trunk. Not sure if it gave him the ability to check or change the cable or not, but you may want to check with him. Hello Sean, Sorry to hear about your 360 lb iron buddy taking a fall, my swing keel has fallen on my M17, but never on my M23. I have not done this (yet), but I seem to recall you can access the keel/pendant point on an M17 by removing the stop pin and carefully lowering the board. Perhaps this is also true with the M23. Is there a way of lowering the swing keel presently? I wonder if you remove the stop pin on the trailer, launch, ease the board down having it rest against a small piece of wood, then possibly view the lanyard attachment point. Hey Shortbus!!! They WERE GOING THE OTHER WAY! HAHAHA......C'mon Larry,,,cut me some slack! HAHAHA...... Truth is ....Dauntless' new main had her walking away from everyone including some much bigger boats we encountered further up the bay in some more wind....but since I have no video of that.... it's just a fish story! Uh...that's was Jo's camerapersonship while she laughed hysterically. We were zipping along close hauled right under the bridge...got headed and then backwinded so fast I couldn't get ahead of it. Gave up and frantically tacked over to complete the pass under the bridge. A real Fire Drill for a couple of seconds as no-one ..including myself, was ready for it! Nice shot of Bosun's bum though, ha? hahaha I left the whole scene in there cause I thought the chaos was kind of funny! S
