Greetings, We previously used this email site to obtain information on the M17. We received many responses which were very helpful. Since then, we have decided to research the M15. Since we are currently located in northeastern Alabama, it's a long way to California to visit with Bog Eeg and view one of his boats. To this end, if there are any M15 owners' in our area, or within 100 miles of us, we'd love to see your boat. We'd also appreciate any comments/advice concerning the M15. We are retiring this year at 62, and hopefully relocating to either Summerville SC or New Bern NC this summer. I'm 6'1" 230 lbs, my wife is 5'4" 135 lbs. We plan to cruise as much as possible along the ICW for as many days as possible(not more than 3 nights on the hook) before seeking a marina to refresh, and then off we go. We also plan to trailer to other locations to do the same. We feel we can use the boat like a camper and sleep in it at campsites as we travel across country(why not?). Dinghy seen at Marina Del Rey

Does anybody live close to Marina Del Rey? I was there on a trip three weeks ago...about the same time the threads started. Across the street from the Hilton was a beach at the marina with many boat racks. I saw what looked like a homemade lap-strake dinghy about 38" wide and about 8' long. Anybody close enough to take pictures or find out some info about it? Kendall

Bones, Thanks, Actually I'm John with a M-15. At 58, this is my first sailboat and, after searching the internet, appears to be just just the right size and a high quality boat It's great knowing there is this resource. I am sure I'll have lots of questions such as "when it goes in the water, which side goes up?" Lots of places to sail in Northwest Oregon. Can't tell you how much I am looking forward to it. Whole new world for my wife, our dog, and me. A new M23?

Jerry, This is the first I've heard of a new M23 about to hit the water. Yours must be hull #2 after Fred and Lilly's. Tell us more about it...will it have an outboard motor? The dinghy-towing thread is sufficiently frayed by now, but here is one more quote from old Maurice Griffiths on dinghy towing, written almost 50 years (1979) after the prior one, based on his experiences: "It was an exhilarating run, and over the Stone Banks off Harwich the seas were a little steeper, and our dinghy started to run up on us before some of the more boisterous seas. But we had by now learnt how to cope with this bad habit of towed dinghies, and always made it a rule when starting on a coastal passage...to shackle two painters on to the dinghy's eyebolt at the foot of its stem. We now cast off one of these to trail astern as a drogue, and veered the stouter one to about six fathoms. This arrangement, we had found, was more effective in braking the dinghy's wild rush down the face of a following sea, as it allowed its stern to slew to one side or the other if it wanted to. If the drogueline is towed from the stern it is less effective as it keeps the dinghy's transom square on to the seas. Moreover, when no longer running before it, it is much easier to retrieve the drogue painter from the dinghy's stem than from its transom, while the yacht is still sailing at all fast."
