The Montgomery 15 is not a scaled down 17. It was designed from the ground up by Jerry Montgomery. I wonder who told you that story? :-) Notice on our new T _shirts we have both boats in profile (in color) and credit is given to both Jerry and lyle as the designers. (designed by Jerry Montgomery------designed by Lyle C. Hess) Just to keep the story straight. Many people wrongly assume Lyle designed Jerry's M_15. BTW I have another new M_17 in stock, this one has the standard windows and will be finished in a few days. (some options can be added) These are 2005 model boats. We spent the summer and fall building a BUNCH of M_17s with the round bronze ports. The next round bronze ported M_17 is going to Texas. Name is SOPHIE ROSE, for Jim and Sylvia. Also have another new M_15 that will be finished shortly. This boat has a GREEN hull. The next M_15 is going to Gilbert, Arizona. (Ivory hull) for Jim and Diane. These are 2005 model boats. Also just finished an all GREEN hulled Montgomery 7-11, rowing model. (I did install the mast teak support cross member for future sailing options, the seats are also green; how do you say ivory in spanish??. She looks neat with the teakwood on her interior.) Also have a new IVORY hulled Montgomery 7-11 rowing model in stock. (this also has the teak cross member for future sailing options) Also have two new Montgomery 6-8 rowing prams in stock. Both have dual oarlocks for rowing from either position. (both Ivory) We did sell the M_23 (green hulled as well) that we were molding. Installing ballast and interior now. To all. Have a recently acquired M-15 and the Center Board is rusted and shot. Does anyone have the most economical way of getting a new centerboard made of steel, sandblasted and powder coated? I only need to get the bare steel center board for this m-15 fabricated, I will have the sandblasting and powdercoating taken care of. Any suggestions appreciated. I was given a price of $600. for the fabrication, sandblasting and powder coating with re-installation. Hess Fest Montgomery pictures

I put up some pictures in a second album which only has Montgomery boats at the Hess Fest. I think 4 of the seven boats were shined up with poly coat. They really looked nice. I will have to figure out how to get these pictures on this site with higher quality so that you can see some sharp details. Hi Jerry, Down the line a lot apparently... You may well guess where the confusing suggestions came from. Be that as it may. I can't thank you enough for clearing that up. I don't think I've ever read the true story of the conception of the 17 or the 15. The recent article in SCA had some quotes from you that helped. M-15

I was recently told a story about the M-15 that needs a bit of clarification. I've read in a couple of articles that the M-15 is a Lyle Hess design. Now I'm told it is a Jerry Montgomery modification to a Lyle Hess design. So I'm told... when the M-15 idea was concieved, it was Jerry Montgomery, who wanted to offer a smaller, quality cruiser that would sail respectively as well as the M-17 did. I'm told Mr. Hess didn't care for the idea and wasn't totally behind the construction of the M-15. I'm told the M-15 was then created as a drawn down M-17 by Jerry Montgomery and the rest is, as they say... history. Maybe this question should be answered by Jerry Montgomery. Doug, I found the minimum resolution to use (experimenting) is roughly 1200 X 900 and the maximum is roughly 1600 X 1200. I've had my Sony DSC-70 for several years. Although it's only a 3.3 megapixel, the secret of the quality is the glass Carl Zeiss lens. I know, when I was shopping for cameras, The DSC-50 (same camera - plastic lens) was lots less money and produced lots less quality. I don't think either camera is available new any longer. Other than that, i don't know. BTW, I did opt for a standard membership (got rid of the adds). I don't see any other differences, with exception of a 200 picture limit. I also found the best way to download shots off of Funtigo, is to go to the left upper corner, go to hi-resolution and save the pic with the right click. It's much faster than their download instructions. Love the pics. I know how difficult it is to bring more on line... But, please do. Bill

Thanks Doug, the pics look great, thanks for posting them and thanks to the orginial "Dockmaster" Greg Hann for sending them along. It certainly was a great sail up the river, a great dinner and great folks. As usual Vera was in her glory, she's the best on the Bay Look forward to seeing the M boats pics. Thanks again Gary
