Hi Bill, You bring up a very interesting point about the shroud bolt. It makes engineering sense to me............... But, when you buy a bolt it is straight. Do you think Jerry bent the bolt before installing it as a bit of engineering whipped cream on the ice cream sundae? After my mast bending episode last fall, I found the bolt to be straight, when I disassembled all the rigging. When the accident occurred, the mast was up; all shrouds were attached as my driver moved car with trailer forward until a large oak tree branch said STOP. At that point, the forestay contacted the oak tree branch, and sufficient force was applied to the forestay to finally cause the mast to buckle in compression, and fold over. So, with all this force applied to the forestay, the bolt still was straight. e.g. I can only surmise that maybe Jerry did bend the bolt a tad for the improved esthetics of the installation. But, .........after I installed a new bolt, after buying the boat, it's been sailing with the straight bolt for several years and I notice no detrimental effects using the straight bolt. Connie

Neat idea John. I'd be very surprised if Jerry or Bob don't have the lines. I don't know about the R/C model, but I'd love a half hull. Wooden Boat seems to do an article every couple of years re: getting lines off full size hulls. Hi Hank, You are correct in your assumption. The bolt is just a standard stainless steel bolt. If the bolt has a bend in it, then there must have been some severe loading on the forestay at some point in time. I had a similar problem, and replaced the bolt on my M15 too. Connie M15 #400 LEPPO

Doug, thanks for the reply. I did jack up the boat and do that one time. It turned out to be difficult to compute all of the "stations" - we even chalked it on the wall, etc. Wound up with a semi-usable set of specs to produce a half-hull but not with the accuracy one would want to show in public. I'll carry that to Jerry and Bob and let you know what comes out. John in Tucson

Fred; We have great sailing here. There are two good lakes in the area and one is a favorite for sailors. There are two good sailing clubs. One is for racers and the other for cruisers. The cruising club goes all over. Lake Mead, Catalina, San Carlos Mex and San Diego. I can send websites for both clubs if you come out here. Lenny has a 23 here and there is another in storage at Lake Pleasant, owned by a gentleman in Tucson. The best 23 in existence is owned by a couple in the Lake Pleasant Sailing Club (Joken II). That's 3 here already. Yours will be 4. Come on out here; Sandy
