Looking for a specialty item, any one have any suggestion????? looking for the see through thin saran wrap type of plastic covering that you can shrink to fit with a hair dryer, NOT, not the type that fits around wires

Seen in the Bountiful, UT area recently was a lovely Monty named "Breakaway". It was being trailered behind a Toyota Tundra pick up. Since I frequently travel to the SLC, Bountiful area, I would love to hear from the owner. I also trailer my M15 behind a Toyota Tundra. Although I wouldn't care to put a number on it, It made a big difference when beating to windward. Enough that I was really glad to get it working again. It's possible that the boat seemed a little more tender without the board, but I can't feel any difference up or down (although I'm far from being an expert). There are some quite large boats whose designers decided it was worth the trouble of putting a lightweight centerboard inside a ballast keel. Having said that, they could be right. I'm wondering what you would compare... Velocity Made Good? Angle of leeway? Readout on the Fun-o-meter? Come to think of it, 10% might be quite a lot -- beating your nearest competitor by 6 minutes after a one hour race would definitely earn the centerboard's keep! For an idea of the forces involved, consider a Laser with a centerboard about the size of the board on an M-15. Sail on a beat with the board up, and note that you're going sideways. Now push the board down and note the immediate difference: You're not going sideways any more. It won't be anywhere near as obvious when the board is combined with a keel, but that would give you a feel for what the board can contribute. Giles Morris

Thanksgiving Sailing Plans

Will be taking "Seawitch" to the St. Petersburg, Fl area for the week of Thanksgiving. Will be launching in Tampa Bay, and docking at a local marina where we will stay aboard when not out sailing. LED's - M17

This boat came with no light bulbs in the electrical devises, so have no way to check what the original came with. I am rewiring the light bulbs sockets to the New High Efficiency White LED's. Does anyone happen to know what the original bulbs current draw for the electrical fixture included with the M17. it has a mast tri light, anchor, inside cabin light, boat does not have any other electrical equipment. replace center - board

Hey mark, I found a weld shop that says they will cut the board out of plate steel and I should then get it power coated. the cost for the centerboard board steel replacement would be $100.00, the drilling of the pivot up hole, etc. would be $35.00. It will be a little bit thinner by a 1/8 inch. Don't know how much that would weight in at.. I've called a couple places for powered coated work, so far no quotes. -- I found a machine shop that can come up with a stainless board cut exactly same shape with holes drilled and all comes to $350.00 its made of 304 stainless, I think it should be 316 to be used in salt water..I think that would weight the same. Its cut with a laser and water/sand mix to extremely tight tolerances looks almost ready to polish. I didn't know they do that. Mike PS, how do you convert your drawings to jpeg, tiff and pdf ?

Does any one the approximate stress on the stays with a full sails in storm conditions just before the tendency to break the stay the fittings or rip it out of the fiberglass?And has any one had failures the compression type fittings?

pdf file conversion

I was looking for a file converter to take jpeg to pdf and back to other more easily emailed. AND smaller file size. Thanks for the inform on getting this for free. It was, in today's standard a small file. With my existing dial up it took almost twenty minutes. I can see that I will be having some problems when I go back to cruising full time and trying to send email and receive emails with something like Winlink through my Ham radio. Maybe I should just stick to voice on 7.268 kHz
