i too havent played them together, but since chiaroscuro is an italian
art term for light(clear)/dark(hidden, obscured), meaning use of light and
shade,
it makes sense for obscured to be a derivative of the other.
i enjoy both, but speaking of springheel, id been listenin to the upcoming
4cd herbie hancock retrospective on col legacy- and found that- to my shock-
as id always detested 'fusion,' having grown up a "live in seattle' baby,
can ya dig it,-- well, i was dumbfounded that my listening to the springheel
jack discs have opened my [what i thought had been very large] ears
sufficiently so that i was listening to some of the electric hancock there
and thought- damn- theres some really good playing over weird fusiony stuff
that sound like a lot of whats coming out via thirsty ear these days-
and im liking it- tho it too reminds me of the electric fusion miles-
which im just starting to appreciate these last 5 yrs- and they
all remind me of what for me was a seminal disc- jon hassell's vernal
equinox (lovely records).
love to all
