King Crimson ceased to be interesting around 200 when the abominable "Construkction Of Light" came out. Maybe they have gotten the spark back, but their shit has sounded lifeless since then. They have been one of my biggest musical disappointments since the new millenium started. If anyone does burn that Naked City show, I would love to hear/see it! the last song 'the cincinatti kid' is originally by lalo schifrin. i heard it before on a naked city-bootleg live in amsterdam in '89 where they played moviethemes only. i quite liked this rendition and used to play it over and over again. though i didn't really like the original which includes vocals. a highlight for me this year was 'speedfreaks', though i think they could have played it a little faster of course... well they're getting older now i guess. kris _________________________________________________________________ MSN Zoeken, voor duidelijke zoekresultaten! http://search.msn.nl

When Naked City first stopped playing Zorn made it very clear that he was tired of being a kind of "greatest hits" group with people requesting their favorites and so on. That's why I'd love to hear if there is any "official" explanation why they began playing again. I mean, if this was just a warm up thing for a new record of new material, I'd think it's pretty cool, but I doubt it. What I heard was that Tzadik is in big financial problems and Zorns old friends said they would help him out. First with the special Mori, Zorn, Patton limited disc, but apparantly that didn't sell well. As far as I remember, somebody said that Frisell actually didn't want to do it. I must say thanks to the list for recommending this album. Joey Baron, Damn! On Fire! The CD is cheap at 3 times the price - amazing - I love it! Berne's Caos Totale - Nice View, featuring Previte on drums and Ducret on guitar is equally as inspiring! The first song is worth the price of the CD alone. The since of urgency in the first track is mind-numbing. Totally into this effort as well!
