I have been trying to figure out a problem that one of my customers has been having. They are dialing up with a 3COM NetBuilder to our TC equipment. The first channel comes up fine, but the second one will not come up. The NetBuilder attempts to bring it up, fails, and waits a few seconds before trying again. ISDN is $.08 per call in this area so they are racking up quite a bill. I have never seen this before with any other customer, and as far as I know they are the only ones with a 3COM NetBuilder, so I am assuming that it is a problem or misconfiguration with their router. Is anyone else familiar with these things? Thanks very much in advance for any help or advice anyone can offer. (usr-tc) testing csu/dsu on DSP

Hi folks... I've got a CSU/DSU on a HiPer DSP that I *think* may be going bad...not really sure though. I'd like to be able to test it, but I'm not really sure how. I've got some equipment that can send BERT patterns at it, but I'm not sure how to set up the DSP to actually deal with that. I've gotten it into a line loopback, so I can bounce the pattern off the loopback, but that's not terribly helpful when you're trying to test the actual CSU/DSU. :/ I've found that the DSP can send, what appears to be a quasi-random signal, but I can't get it to sync up when sending it. My current setup to try to test this is the DSP card is connected via a "null-t1" cable to my other equipment (a Cisco 7507 with a multi-channel port adapter...has integrated CSU/DSU's and ability to run quite a few different BERT patterns...more capability in this area from 3Com would be *really* cool to have ;). I can get the T1's to sync up normally (non-BERT) by setting the clock source on the Cisco to internal (which is expected...*someone* has to generate clock...although it seems they'll coast for a while with both pulling it off the line without falling out of sync). I can also set up a loopback on the DSP, and run anything I want from the cisco and it works (BERT, true T1 signalling, etc.), but I can't reverse it. I have tried setting the cisco to have a loopback and run qrs from the DSP (available via the "cmd sendcode qrs" command on the console) but it never seems to want to sync up that way. I've tried all different combinations of clocking sources on the DSP and cisco with the DSP running qrs, but never can get it to be happy. (usr-tc) HDM Uptime

Due to the hanging DSP bug in the HDMs which takes out two ports (arghhh..), we are monitoring our failure statistics via SNMP looking for these problems. We automatically capture and email the call failure statistics every morning for all HDMs. This morning I noticed that all of the statistics on one HDM had been zeroed out during thr prior day. This concerns me as I would imagine the card must have rebooted itself in order to reset these counters. (True?) I am sure there must an uptime stat for each HDM which I can get using TCM, but I did not see it when I looked around some. Can someone tell me how to get the HDM uptime so I can know exactly when this card reset itself. Also, does this happen to other folks periodically or is this card getting ready to go bad? We had a USR TC box with 48 modems and 2 T1s. It worked... Well, we got our third T1 and a used TC box. Now, about a third of our customers log on, get authenticated, and sit there (ping and traceroute work, web browsing doesn't). Or else, they get an error 750 or 765 or other type error. Could our new T1 NIC card be bad? It passes the various tests? Help!!! Other info, the T1 performance test tells me 3865 bipolar whatever errors in the last 24 hours. Bad card??? US West says the line tests out good. (usr-tc) Pipe 75 + Static IP + NAT

I'm trying to hook up a Pipe 75 with a Static IP and NAT enabled to a HiPerARC chassis.. When I disable the NAT on the Pipe, it connects, when I enable it, it won't connect.. The pipe has been dialing into a Livingston PM2e up until now, and when I modify the remote address and the phone number to have it dial to our TC equipment, it won't do it. I've gone and disabled things such as STAC and all other compressions.. I did set the Pipe to MP with BACP=Yes. I had a headache trying to set up the route as you have. The easiest solution is to use host-based routing. add a line Framed-Netmask=255.255.255.248, to the RADIUS definition of the user. Then the route should be advertized properly. You should also follow the advise of the other replies to the list enabling Ripv2 on the ARC if you haven't already done so, and make sure that your core router is listening for that class C as well.
