HiperNMC Dead?

All of a sudden today, my HiperNMC disappeared from my network. Plugged a terminal into it's console port and got no response. Removed and plugged the card back in. Below is what I see. Anyone have any ideas what's wrong here? Did the card just die, or do I need to reflash the code onto it? I'm out of ideas on this one, never seen it before. You'll notice at the bottom it says "press any key within 5 seconds". I tried that. it asked me for it's IP address, SN Mask, and Default Gateway and Startup Mode. I entered them and waited. It just sat there. It says SDL2 Revision: 1.0.05. Does that mean that's the code version it's running? Has it lost it's programming and just needs a reload through the console port? Dunno what to do here. NMC problems

today i downloaded software version 5.4.1 to this nmc card without errors, but this card is always reloading. (at first it writes 3COM at nmc status leds, then USR, then clears and reloads). when downloading version 5.5.5 it it writes Programming Flash ROM error. what can cause this and what can i do?

NMC problems

before doing sdl this nmc wasnt responding to snmp requests. when i was doing sdl at last step pcsdl.exe wrote that it cant program flash: something like - *** Programming flash error. i tried sdl again but same result. now this nmc's RN/FL is flashing green. TC : Dual E1/R2, 14 Quads (ana/dig), NETserver card. can anybody help?

Experiences with newest code?

Okay, I've recently upgraded all my cards that were lagging on software versions, but now my boss is upset because I upgraded to the newest releases that I've heard people refer to as stable, rather than the absolute bleeding edge. So I told him I'd ask around, and see if I could get other people's opinion of the latest firmware. Right now we've got: HiperDSP: 3.5.105 HiperARC: 5.3.3 HiperNMC: 8.6.3 NMC(486): 7.1.8 We don't have any problems as far as I know--except possibly one with NFAS, but I think that's really a telco issue--but my boss would like to upgrade. So I'm looking for opinions about the TCS 4.5 service releases and/or TCS 4.7. Can anyone tell me if the following versions have worked well/failed spectacularly for them? HiperDSP: 3.5.109, 3.7.4 HiperARC: 5.3.110, 5.7.2 HiperNMC: 10.1.5

NFAS trouble

We've got a number of PRIs with Verizon that we're trying to switch over to NFAS. The other day, we tried to make the switchover, but after everything was changed over on both sides, the primary and backup D-channels continuously bounced up and down every half-minute or so rather than remaining up. The Verizon tech told me that he was showing a "level 3 protocol error", which to him seemed to be the holy grail of that-proves- it's-your-problem-now-I-don't-have-to-help. The NFAS settings don't give a whole lot of options, so I can't think what I'd be missing--does anyone know what settings I might be unaware of that I need to change? This is what I try setting it to: NFAS Interface Id: 0 on the first DSP, 1 on the second, and so forth... Logical Group: 0 D-channel: primary on the first, backup on the second, none on the others (which is how the telco's supposed to have it set up) NFAS type: NFAS (felt pretty confident about that one :) I also changed the switch type in the trunk settings, because although we are supposedly still plugged into a 5ESS, the Verizon tech said "with NFAS, I can ONLY do NI-2." Hi-- We've used TSMON, formerly PMMON to poll our dial units for quite a few years. Their software has always had some issues, not entirely of their making, but now they're basically unresponsive so we're to the point where we need to abandon it and find something else. IS there anything else out there that: - knocks off excessive users of same account (multi-logins) - monitors dial pool capacity and asks/boots long users off during peak use periods (within say 2 modems of a full pool for example, ask several users on for >6 hours to drop off for a bit, if no, boot them, keep them off for 15 minutes, then start the 6 hr clock over if they want to get back on) - boot & keep off line campers & the like.... TSMON, as an idea, was perfect, but in practice is too buggy to use for more than the multilogins. Poor coding + oddities in ARC responses = unreliability I get the idea that most ISP's go for more of a state-aware Radius solution - which we're certainly open to - as opposed to Radius being only for authentication & session start parameter setting (filters, IP, other session) I'm curious what else is out there that isn't an arm and a leg. BTW, if it requires ANY Microsoft product (such as SQL Server), no way...Microsoft-free in 2003 is our new motto...open source is vastly preferred.... SMT PS: I wish the TSMON folks would "abandon" their code and make it open source...I can't imagine anyone's paying them anything at this point.
