Hi, I found the strange acct log below, pls help to rectify this problem. The frameipaddress of start packet is different from stop packet. MAC 9.2 disconnects

We have a Mac OS 9.2 user who dials in to the TC-1000 and disconnects after a while. He is sure he has a good line quality. I monitored his PPP session, and the last messages I got were the following before he disconnected: Incoming PPP Data on interface: slot:1/mod:10 Time: 25-DEC-2002 14:09:51 LCP ECHO_REQ fc 15 d9 b4 a5 a5 a5 a5 Outgoing PPP Data on interface: slot:1/mod:10 Time: 25-DEC-2002 14:09:51 LCP ECHO_RPLY 56 5a f1 a6 Any idea why he disconnects? Does anybody know how to force modem to V.34 on a MAC OS 9.2 machine and how to turn LCP Echo off? If it were me, and the NAC is running at all, I'd try to restore defaults and then update the code. Not sure if it was DSP, ARC, or NMC, but I recall one software update for something along the way fixed a reboot problem with something. Worth a try. If you get really frustrated, you could always send it to me. If I find that it doesn't work, I can throw it away for you. I am now guessing it's a faulty NAC since I've been able to try other NACs in the slot and get a PRI up successfully. Hi All, We recently acquired a TC1000 chassis with 14 HiperDSPs. Upon power up, I noticed that the DSP NAC in slot 10 resets every few minutes like clock work. The NAC shows the same behavior trying it in slots 9 and 8, however, when placed in slots 11 or 12, it runs fine. I also tried the NACs from slot 11 and 12 in slot 10, and they seem to work fine there, and the NACs from slots 9 and 8 also work fine in slot 10. Does anyone know of any peculiarities having to do with slot 10 in a fully loaded chassis? How to gain communication with the NMC Question Total Control Network Management Card - How to gain communication with the NMC There are many possibilities why the Total Control Network Management card is unable to communicate over the network: 1. The ethernet IP address is incorrect 2. The subnet mask is incorrect 3. The gateway IP address is incorrect 4. Changes were not saved before the NMC card rebooted 5. Memory crashed which caused the NMC to restore its settings from default 6. NMC NIC jumper is set for NAC 7. NMC is on the wrong slot 8. Bad NMC cards either NIC or NAC 9. Bad cabling 10. Bad port on hub 11. Ethernet cable not attached to the correct NMC NIC port 12. No cable is attached Answer To configure the Total Control Network Management Card, 1. Pull out the NMC's NIC and NAC cards 2. On the NMC's NIC card, make sure that the J2 jumper is set for NMC, rather than NAC 3. On the NMC's NAC card, make a note on how dip switches 1 and 2 are positioned: DIP Switch Baud 1 2 Rate ----------------------- OFF OFF 9600 OFF ON 19200 ON OFF 38400 ON ON 57600 4. Re-insert the cards back into the chassis on slot 17. Insert the NIC first before the NAC. 5. Set your terminal's baud rate to match the baud rate settings on the NMC's NAC card 6. Once you get the Main Menu, type 1, then press ENTER to access the Local LAN IP Address menu. 7. Type 1, then press ENTER to access the LAN IP Address menu. 8. Type the new LAN IP Address, then press ENTER. 9. Type 2, then press ENTER to access the LAN IP Subnet Mask menu. 10. Type the new LAN IP Subnet Mask, then press ENTER. 11. Hit ESC to go back to the Configuration Menu. 12. Type 3, then press ENTER to access the Local Gateway IP Address menu. 13. Type the new Gateway IP Address, then press ENTER. 14. Hit ESC to go back to the Configuration Menu. 15. Type 9, then press ENTER to "Save Configuration To Non-Volatile Memory" 16. Hit ESC when DONE to go back to the Configuration Menu. 17. Hit ESC once more to go back to the Main Menu 18. Type 2, then press ENTER to access the Command Menu 19. Type 1, then press ENTER to reboot the Total Control Network Management Card 20. Type Y, then press ENTER to confirm the reboot request. 21. Insert an ethernet cable on the back of the NMC NIC card and make sure the ethernet cable is hooked up to the ethernet port. 22. Make sure that the other end of the ethernet cable is connected to a HUB which is connected with the rest of the network. You should now be able to ping and access the Total Control Network Management Card via network. If you are still unable to communicate with the Total Control Network Management Card via network then 1. Replacing the ethernet cable. 2. Try a different port on the HUB. If you are still unable to communicate with the Total Control Network Management Card via network, then have the NMC's NIC and NAC replaced. Or try this. Error when using Total Control Manager from Microsoft Windows to get information from the Network Management Card. I'm running 3.5.105 on my DSP's and it seems very stable and reliable, no complaints from customers, I haven't seen any problems at all. The few customers that have had any connection issues I can solve by connecting their modems to phone lines that work. Haven't found a modem that wouldn't work right with it. TCM talks to the NMC, not the Netserver. Plug in the ip of your NMC not the Netserver. You should definitely match up the version of TCM to match the version of your NMC. Go to totalservice.commworks.com and use the software compatibility matrix to reference what version of TCM should be used with the version of NMC code you are running.
