I;ve had this happen a few times. Just reboot the NMC card by sliding it out if the chassis or via the console interface and it will be well again (until next time). Hi Scot, We see this a lot on Hiper DSP cards when they fail. Try the Z-Modem procedure through the console port to reload code to it and see if that works. Most of the cards we see like this have to be sent back to 3Com for repair. We've been trying to... but some of the wording is different, and it's different than the TelCo's wording again, so they're not a lot of help on knowing how our equipment should be set. TroubleShooting HiperDSP (2)

Well after posting my issue with the HIPER DSP cards here is what I have found to work. I restored the Hiper DSP card to factory default settings per Commworks Knowledge base. I then copy my settings over from a working card and it has been up for 5 days now with no troubles. I have never had to restore a card to Factory Settings so does anyone know why I would have to do it now? Anyway it works and thanks to those who gave me some ideas to try. Try Dip #5. Docs say reserved, but I believe I've gotten past that symptom with that Dip switch. Worth a try... 10 Mbps half duplex

I would like to find a way to configure a port to 10 Mbps Full Duplex on hiperarc. I have a switch (Cisco Catalyst) that is capable of doing 10 Mbps half/full. It will be too costly to replace all my cards to support 10/100. When I set the switch port to 10 Mbps Full, the hiperarc default to 10 Mbps half because of autosensing logic. This create alignment errors... So far, I am using up to 7 DSP per 10 Mbps half duplex connection. I see up to 4% collision rate. I am trying to get a better "Internet experience" out of my testing. It will be "really" nice to have a manual speed & duplex setting. Because we use this interface like a "trunk", even at 100 Mbps autosensing I will prefer to see a manual setting. I spoke to CommWorks and they want my company to pay for it because I'm the only customer requesting it. In a nutshell, I would like to hear from you the following: - Is there a way to assign 10 Mbps full duplex if the switch is only 10 Mbps half/full? - If you are using a 10 Mbps half duplex, what is your maximum number of hiperDSP assigned to this conection? - Would you consider "important" to have a manual speed and duplex setting on hiperarc? Cc: Commworks, Solunet Richard, We are dealing with a similar issue. We're using an HP switch, 10/100. We would like to hard-code to 100FDx, for the obvious reason that auto-detect is almost completely unreliable. Commworks repeated that dialogue verbatim. "We will need you to pay for it as you are the only customer requesting this." I find it rather interesting that we were told that a Cisco Catalyst (or most any switch other than HP) would not exhibit the auto-negotiation problems. I will, however, give credit to Commworks for recognizing the issue after a time. They have, in fact, agreed to "determine what needs to happen to put manual overrides in place" without compensation. Beyond this they will not guarantee that the efforts they put forth towards resolving the issue are free of charge. If you (or anyone for that matter) are interested in the ongoing progress of this issue, please contact me privately. David A. The ARC supports this; you can "add ip net" all day and assign the same interface (eth:1 or Eth:2). That's CommWorks version of secondary.
