I've been having a really bizarre problem off and on the last week or two. Occasionally some of my ARCs will suddenly stop doing OSPF right. The routing table loses all OSPF routes, and the ARC stops announcing its routes via OSPF to our Ciscos. Disabling/enabling OSPF doesn't help, but most of the time (not all the time) rebooting the ARC will. One thing that seemed to trigger it was rebooting some of our Ciscos... and since that happens so infrequently (not rebooted since going to ARC 4.2 in fact) it's hard to track down. I don't know which one exactly, maybe our AS border router dying is what threw it off. It also happened last night when I installed a Cisco Catalyst 2924XL (replacing an old 10BaseT hub, finally!) which didn't involve rebooting the Ciscos, but involved having them unreachable for a minute or two as cables were switched and Spanning Tree did its thing... I have another ARC with no modems on the same LAN (for testing) and it initially did the same thing, but now I'm having trouble reproducing it. When it was screwed up one night, it fixed itself overnight, but it obviously took hours to do, which kinda defeats the purpose of OSPF. I know this is really vague, but problem is, I don't really know where to start looking for this, because I didn't document very well what my current OSPF settings are. (A bulk-config-to-ASCII utility would be REALLY HELPFUL HERE :) I could reverse-engineer HARM and try to get a dump of that part of the config via SNMP somehow, I guess, but... yuck. Anyway, I'm also not a real in-depth OSPF guru yet. Has anyone seen anything like this before or know of any particular settings that I might want to check? This is driving me nuts (not to mention my customers) and I'm not sure where to start. (usr-tc) TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS

We have a user who has been having problems with their dialup connection from the day they started with us. They are complaining about the typical "stalling problem" and their application (a stock tracking application) dying which is causing them to have to do a reboot on Win95. To make matters worse they have a Lucent Winmodem. I have sent them the latest software but it doesn't seem to help. They are getting a solid 28.8kbs connection. I looked at theor modem stats in TCM, when they were connected, and the analog stats look fine. However, when I look at Call Stats I am seeing some strange numbers: Number of characters sent 2664304 Numebr of charcters received 398400 Number of blocks sent 37255 Number of blocks received 19320 Numebr of retrains requested 0 Number of characters lost 0 Link block errors 1160 Number of link protocol timeouts 265 Number of NAKS sent 1919 Gain recalculation count 0 Do these numbers seem normal ? I checked other calls and the results of my observations are unconclusive. I am open to suggestions. Of course with their other ISP (where they lived previously) they didn't have this problem. Quick question about the Hiperarc. Can somebody tell me the exact command for setting the idle timeout on the hiperarc default user? The guy who normally does out hiperarc config is out of the office so it's up to me. Please include any command that I need to issue to make the command stick after a reboot. (usr-tc) CHAP Support with VOP Radius

We are using Vircom's VOPRadius with our HiperARCs, and would like to support CHAP authentication (in addition to PAP). Is this possible? I know that there are a few on this list that use Vircom. What do I need to do to the Hiperarc? What do I do to VOPRadius?
