Yes they did. NB, in general spirit I seem to have enjoyed the show a lot more than the below reviewer. The only low point for me was every little thing. I agree, the original version is much better. The melody remains the same, but o/w a new arrangement and a bit slower. It loses some of the joy in the change. I thought the band look bored during the beginning of ebyt. Can't say I blame them. Before the show started, the three of them came out and explained that it was their last dress rehearsal, that there'd be mistakes, and thanked us for coming. They seemed to be incredibly happy to be there. Especially Stewart. At one point during the show, I think it was before walking on the moon, stewart ran around the stage saying that he was trapped behind the drums and the large stage made him want to run around. I'm not positive, but it looked like it annoyed sting. I thought the show was tight, very enjoyable and I'm looking forward to tonight. Mark.

Well I never wanted to say anything because I didn¹t want to bring anybody down, but from the get go I¹ve been really scared that the shows would be disappointing because of Sting making everything slower and more mellow, as he has done on his solo tours (which has disappointed me)... and the rehearsal videos backed this up... it is really sad to me, it would be so great to see the 80¹s energy in the songs, but it doesn¹t seem like we are going to get that.... I¹m not pissed, just sad.... also every little thing is my FAVORITE song of all time, and I¹m afraid it¹s going to be ruined for me! THAT is really sad to me.... oh well! Reality to me was that it was a dress rehearsal, an amazing experience, loads of fun meeting the fans, but not great music yet. Lots of work to do. I didn't think the first half of the show was nearly as good as the second half. So it was promising that they have shaken the nervous feelings. I enjoyed sitting in row 8 center right behind Sting's family. Trudie, joe, Jake and several others grooved to every song. Trudie signed my ticket. Eddie veder of pearljam sat right behind me and said his favorite song last night was murder. He gave me a guitar pick with his initials on it. Let's hope for a more polished show tonight. Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne) was sitting in front of Jo-Ann and me. Further confirming that we took the red pill when we entered the arena. A report I read this morning said that in addition to Eddie Veder, Penelope Cruz was in the audience, which lead me to the question, "Why did I get Lawrence Fishburne in front of me and not Penelope Cruz?"

Wow, seems it was a boring show, Dietmar...only 1 great, 2 very goods, 2 good¹s and many ok¹s and many booorings....maybe our expectations where toooo high ? Was it that bad ? 27.05.2007 fanclub show
message great
synch 2 good\
dont nice mix between 1980 and 1986 , but it slowed down the whole gig and the frenzy was gone
voices / when the world never liked the songs too much, but when the world again with good guitar and unbelievably fast bass
spirits not necessary
driven so so
moon good, with a new bass line later in the song
truth hits interesting
every little thing the old version was way better
wrapped booooooring, even slower than 1983
beds ok
murder can you believet that this was the only song played with the tele? that's why most of the songs didn' sound too good guitar wise / the strat is too nice and mellow...
de do do boring
invisible sun very good
footsteps never liked that song, but it changes from percussion to drums, and there it gets exciting
cant very good, goosebumps
roxanne ok ... king this was always boring and will always be
so lonely bad, really without any power, lower key, bad guitar timing
breath never liked that song too much, but it was ok ... next to you good, with a short speedup version at the end, veeery fast

From the clips on YouTube I think I understand where D is coming from, I hope that the guys figure out that you don't have to re-invent every song and a setlist that keeps the energy moving. Bring back some of that 82 tour magic!!!!

Truthfully, they only reworked a couple of songs in a major way.and overall the energy was DEFINITELY there..a couple of slower points, for sure..but the crowd was still buzzing. This was the very first show and I don't think any of us should have been expecting perfection. The show is already great, and it will continue to improve from here. I brought a great friend of mine to the show - he is a truly fantastic musician (singer/songwriter), and regularly plays to audiences of 10,000 - 15,000 people himself - I truly value his insights when it comes to music, and he was speechless after the show. He kept shaking his head in amazement. Don't worry guys - the magic is still there. From the clips on YouTube I think I understand where D is coming from, I hope that the guys figure out that you don't have to re-invent every song and a setlist that keeps the energy moving. Bring back some of that 82 tour magic!!!!

OK.it was freakin' AWESOME. They played with rhythms in VERY cool ways throughout the night - Bed's Too Big and So Lonely were great examples. Walking in Your Footsteps was fantastic. Also, I thought it was very interesting to hear a new version of Every Little Thing - maybe the original is better, but come on.it's 23 years later, so I'm glad they changed things up a bit on a few songs! I agree, King of Pain didn't work so well, and in general I would have preferred for Sting's bass to have more punch..but they played well, it was exciting, they were certainly happy to be there.and I loved being there myself. The energy was great, and they had some great jam sessions in a number of songs. I would have liked them to play Regatta De Blanc a bit longer in the middle of Can't Stand Losing you, but it still built up to a wicked frenzy and the audience was going crazy. REM was in the audience, as was Eddie Vetter (spelling??) from Pearl Jam, and he thoroughly enjoyed the show too. To everyone that is patiently waiting to see The Police later on the tour and wondering whether or not they still have it.well, my answer is yes they do! You will not be disappointed. On another cool note, Danny Q gave me Sting's setlist after the show, so I have in my possession the setlist from The Police's first concert in 23 years - how cool is that!?!? It' s also been great finally meeting people whose names I know from this list but have never met in person before..Michelle, Maggie, Dietmar, Toni etc. etc. etc. Great times, my friends. Great times, indeed.
