OK…it was freakin’ AWESOME.  They played with rhythms in VERY cool ways throughout the night – Bed’s Too Big and So Lonely were great examples.  Walking in Your Footsteps was fantastic.  Also, I thought it was very interesting to hear a new version of Every Little Thing – maybe the original is better, but come on…it’s 23 years later, so I’m glad they changed things up a bit on a few songs!

I agree, King of Pain didn’t work so well, and in general I would have preferred for Sting’s bass to have more punch….but they played well, it was exciting, they were certainly happy to be there…and I loved being there myself.  The energy was great, and they had some great jam sessions in a number of songs.  I would have liked them to play Regatta De Blanc a bit longer in the middle of Can’t Stand Losing you, but it still built up to a wicked frenzy and the audience was going crazy.  REM was in the audience, as was Eddie Vetter (spelling??) from Pearl Jam, and he thoroughly enjoyed the show too.

To everyone that is patiently waiting to see The Police later on the tour and wondering whether or not they still have it…well, my answer is yes they do!  You will not be disappointed.

On another cool note, Danny Q gave me Sting’s setlist after the show, so I have in my possession the setlist from The Police’s first concert in 23 years – how cool is that!?!?

It’ s also been great finally meeting people whose names I know from this list but have never met in person before….Michelle, Maggie, Dietmar, Toni etc. etc. etc.  Great times, my friends.  Great times, indeed.

Cheers,

Bruce

Was it that bad ?

I don’t know, but in a way i’m scared to see THE POLICE, after 27 years of waiting, but...we will see which changes will happen in the next concerts !
