Correct me if I'm wrong, but this just a fan trailer, no? I assumed this wasn't for a real film. it's for a real movie and it's also made by a fan so it's both there's a real book and a real movie coming just sign the guestbook so that distribution will become easier ! bye dietmar

Looked real enough to me and I am certainly all pumped up about what looks like another fantastic movie about the Police!!!! In many ways, I see the infrequency of recordings by rock groups as an anomaly of popular music. I tend to think that once these people become ultra-rich, they cease to be practicing musicians. Rather, many albums sound to me like they were made at least partly because two or three (or sometimes more) years had passed, and it was contractually mandated. "Oh, it's time write some more 'Sting songs'." I do think that expectations run very high, but this is at least in part because of the infrequency of the recorded output. One way to have a tremendous impact is to increase the frequency of this output. I can think of at least two bands which did this: The Beatles and The Police. I'm not comparing them musically, or in terms of artistic success; but both fired off a succession of albums with the frequency of one per year (or more, in the case of The Beatles). The Police released full length original albums in 1978, 79, 80, 81, and 83. Whether it is the lengthy cycle between albums, and/or the heavy expectations, The Police are clearly in an unusual spot after a 25- year layoff. However, I would think that three experienced professional musicians, touring the world for a year and a half, would have the wherewithal to produce at least some new material. In fact, I would expect it to happen almost organically, arising out of rehearsals, sound checks, and performances. That it apparently has not says something about the tour, I think. Are things managed so carefully, or is there a significant amount of calculation involved, either in terms of Sting being careful (for whatever reasons), or the decision not to "mess with the legacy"? I can't imagine if, say, John Coltrane and Miles Davis, if they were still alive, and say Herbie Hancock, got together they wouldn't just grab a drummer, make some new music and release it. Chris

What can I say, it's a pleasure to talk to all of you; ISUN is one of the best place to be; nice people, good debates, real opinions with the right criticism...it's a great mailing list and I'm happy it's still alive and kicking! You all know since the early days of this mailing list that I have the chance to talk to the three of them, but as you can see I'm always a little shy to talk about it; first because sometimes I may be seen like someone that puts in front of everybody the fact that I can have what other respectable fans can't have...I just told you a few things in my latest couple of messages as I thought it would be good to share such informations with you all talking about that issue; second thing, sometimes I feel a great respect for what Andy, Sting and Stewart tells me in confidence that I feel a little afraid about sharing something that maybe they won't just tell everybody...maybe it's just me; I try to think about these things when I share some informations that the band tells me; I guess they just trust me, probably not as they trust a journalist....(seen what happened on my Stewart web). Thanks for reading, thanks for your friendship; I don't even know most of you in person but I know you are out there and that makes a better world. Giovanni

Not everybody will be happy whatever the Police end up doing. I was very interested in your short little story about fellow Police-fans you knew when they did Zenyatta. I can't even imagine anybody not liking Zenyatta Mondatta. I see their side though, it certainly was nothing like the previous two albums. They were much more punkish, raucous in their sound and Zenyatta could definitely be considered more commercialized. I, like you, really have not heard a Police or Sting album I have not liked. Even Mercury Falling, which everyone is soooo quick to disparage. I think that I too would just be happy if they did some more recording of just about anything. Considering there's nothing i have never not liked by any of them(I even like Last Exit), I don't think there would be a problem. You have a great insight into their lives and I am envious that you are able to even talk to them on what seems like a pretty regular basis, let alone ask them, what sounds like just about anything you want to...
